Angry Morse is gone, and replacing it this week is the Squirrels High Five sticker! Had to include some Sara & Saffron representation eventually. Hope this sticker is proven versatile for you guys!

POPGOES Evergreen:

Okay, first things first...

Last week I talked about a recent "hiccup" in the game's development where one of our most important 3D artists suddenly disappeared (for a second time). I also mentioned that I had begun looking for a suitable replacement. We needed someone familiar with Blender, optimally also familiar with POPGOES, and with lots of experience in 3D prop creation and character animation.

Well, we are now working with E.Breddy aka Emir!

And this might not be long-term, but at the moment things are looking very good. We have done a few tests so far, and Emir has also animated something very cool for the showcase we have prepared for Dawko, which I'm very excited about.

With Emir on board, we've actually officially begun working on jumpscare animations for the main characters (Popgoes, Blake, Sara, Saffron, Stone). Nothing is finished quite yet, but I'm happy with showing off some tests!

The jumpscare animations in Evergreen will all be transparent overlays (except Blackrabbit), and they can be triggered in ANY of the four "office" views. Because of this, we need to make sure that the lighting setup feels at least DECENT in each of these views.

I think this setup actually works quite well. It will never be PERFECT, unless we rendered multiple versions of each animation, but that's nooot gonna happen lol. Thankfully the jumpscares are very fast anyway, so it's not the end of the world if the lighting is a bit off.

We did try a more "neutral" lighting setup, with symmetrical light sources, so that it looks less specific:

Which may look like it fits a BIT better in these environments? It's hard to tell. But most people I've shown this to, prefer the first set. The angled lighting is seen as more interesting, and the symmetrical lighting (second set) is considered a bit boring and makes him look more robotic. I'm not sure! Let me know which set you prefer.

These are just lighting tests - we have also had multiple attempts at actual jumpscare animations but nothing I'm 100% settled on yet. But Emir is VERY skilled so I'm sure we will get there soon!

Unfortunately not much else I can show here, as a lot of what we've been working on and discussing has been confidential (though I can say Alexis completed another incredibly disturbing model)... But I recently worked on the post-processing for a lot of the camera renders so that they can be re-rendered for the office's panorama, and I noticed that the Server Room only had three renders planned... those being lights on with Blake, lights on without Blake, and lights off. That's because most of the stuff that goes on in the Server Room will be through the player entering colour codes and stuff (which will just be text on the screen, not rendered).

So I decided that Blake should look out of the Server Room just before he decides to leave it. And for fun you get a sneak peek at how that looks:

Nothing too exciting, but I know there are some Blake fans out there who will take anything they can get lol.


myPOPGOES:

Development has continued on the new features of myPOPGOES, most notably the unlockable characters!

Emil hasn't finished making sprites for these yet, so in the meantime we've been using colour coded Popgoeses:

And we've been doing lots of tests with their unique stats. Because when you select a different character, they will actually play slightly differently. I have compared this to modfying your kart in Mario Kart or something. You're still doing the same thing, but certain speeds and values are adjusted to make things easier or harder in different ways.

"Hunger Resistance" refers to how good a character is at resisting the hunger bar from going down. High resistance means the bar goes down slower. It's good.

Every character, in theory, is perfectly balanced because they each have 15 dots. But in practice they are NOT balanced and we need to spend a lot of time adjusting numbers so that each character feels different, but FAIR. It would be weird if a random character felt significantly harder than another.

So yeah, bits and bobs here and there. I'm not 100% sure what is going on with myPOPGOES in terms of an official Fanverse/Steam release but it's something I'm still working on with the respective parties. Fingers crossed for some news soon!

Definitely something worth sharing here I think...

A big congrats to my girlfriend Sian (@turntail ) for another one of her amazing FNAF art pieces being made into official FNAF merch!

This was discovered and shared by a Hot Topic employee on Reddit. Though this design isn't available to buy just yet, it will eventually be available as a shirt in some Hot Topics in the near future. And the reception for this so far has been AMAZING. People really love this design and rightly so. It's a FNAF shirt that I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear out in public... quite rare.
