Hey guys,
So, a new POPGOES game released. Bet you didn't see that coming last week! So, of course, I'll be talking about that a LOT today. Buckle up!

I hope you've held onto at least a few Blackrabbit Heads, because the rest of her pieces are gonna be rolling out each week now. Blackrabbit's Left Leg is available this week! Obviously quite a strange sticker to use by itself... but be sure to collect it so you can build FULL Blackrabbits when this "event" is over!
myPOPGOES:

Wowee, a brand new POPGOES game was announced, and RELEASED, this week. Let's talk about it a bit here.
About a month ago I started hinting at a secret project of sorts, something extra that I had began working on with a small selection of POPGOES team members. And in last week's devlog, I gave the first proper teaser for this project in the form of an image of a dim chest in the back of an attic, with the subtitle "Toy".

Eventually, the project was officially announced via a trailer on the 3rd of April, revealing that it is a brand new POPGOES game called "myPOPGOES". This project was supposed to be an April Fool's "joke", with the punchline being that the aforementioned "Toy" subtitle is actually referring to a literal kid's toy rather than any of the Toy animatronics (which most of you assumed it was about). Funny, right?! But my April Fool's jokes are never JUST jokes. So, surprise...

myPOPGOES is a compact "survival" game where you play as a 10-year-old Bonnie Glade, who has just received a personalised birthday gift from her father. So, what's the gift? Well, it's an LCD toy (inspired by Pixel Chix) where you control a very fussy Popgoes the Weasel in a miniature plastic recreation of a Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
Aside from some slightly surreal cutscenes, you can play myPOPGOES with only three buttons (the left, down, and right arrow keys). Hold left to drink. Hold right to cook pizzas. Hold nothing to listen to music. And press middle to eat cooked pizzas. If you let any of your resource bars hit zero, Popgoes will pass out. And that's it! On paper it sounds like three annoying music-box mechanics, but in practice it's actually very fun and quite addictive. Plus it looks adorable.
Oh, and did I mention that all of the "3D" visuals in the game are HAND DRAWN? Yes, believe it or not but all of the cutscenes, environments, and even the toy itself was hand-drawn by my girlfriend Sian / Turntail (though the toy was modelled first by NeeTroo).

Since myPOPGOES' release, a few things have happened.
I released an FAQ on Twitter, where I answer a bunch of questions regarding the game, its development, its future, and more.
We've released some updates, and we plan on releasing a few more that improve the game in minor ways. Optimisations, bug fixes, cleaning a few things up.
I emailed Scott to see if he would be interested in adding myPOPGOES to the Fanverse, incentivising me and my team to expand on it and work on ports, things like that.
Plenty of YouTubers noticed and played the game. Including Dawko, FusionZGamer, JonnyBlox, DarkTaurus, GG Games (Spanish), Ponguy (Polish), and more. Spoilers in those videos by the way. It's very likely that this did so well on YouTube because there are some spooky things in the game which you can access quickly. POPGOES Arcade on the other hand requires more time to reach its horror elements, which is probably why so many YouTubers skipped it. Sad face.
I released three TikToks (yes, these really were from me). One of the game's trailer but in a new aspect ratio, one that was mostly an inside joke among some fangame developers, and one that was an "overstimulating" gameplay session parodying a TikTok trend of ridiculous mobile game ads.
Oh and Scott replied to my email, and he adores myPOPGOES! He told me that he "LOVES the look of the game", that he was "a huge fan of LCD games" when he was young, and that myPOPGOES pulls at his heartstrings. myPOPGOES is certainly not in the Fanverse yet, but it seems inevitable!
So, what's next? Well, the team and I have some small things planned for the free version of myPOPGOES on Game Jolt, which we are working on. If a Fanverse agreement is arranged, then we will begin working on an expansion to the game immediately while other members continue Evergreen development. I would not want to work on myPOPGOES for very long, but I would ensure that it is worth its price. Which would only be something like $1 or $2.
You may be wondering what I would add to myPOPGOES in a paid expansion / port. I have some ideas, though NONE of this is a guarantee:
Unlockable characters with varying stats. Some may be more susceptible to hunger. Some may move faster across the room. Some may be able to cook pizzas faster.
Unlockable stickers to put on the toy. I imagine the toy could have five "slots" which you can fill with your own choice out of a selection of 20+ stickers. Some personalisation. Would feel very 2000s.
Unlockable "lore" in the form of Bonnie's sketches and diary entries. We can learn how Popgoes and the gang originally looked. How Bonnie acts and feels as a 10 year old, and get some insight into her life, and family.
A Spanish translation? Though translations are not exactly likely for Evergreen, and are basically impossible for Arcade... myPOPGOES was programmed by Patata1236, a Mexican creator, and a Spanish translation for a game like this is much easier than other localisations.
Perhaps most importantly, a selection of challenges that (at least) doubles the amount of gameplay. Of course, the toy only has three buttons and I'm not going to change that. But that doesn't mean more mechanics can't be added to the current system. For example...
What if there was a challenge called "Sticky Floor", where you'd need to mash the toy's buttons if Popgoes' feet get stuck in a puddle of soda?
What if there was a challenge where the final quarter of all three resource bars are obscured? Big risks are even riskier.
And what if the pizzas that you cooked actually expired over time unless you eat them? Almost like a fourth resource bar...
Ultimately, this is all up in the air and I don't really know what we'll settle on. But we are taking your feedback into account, listening to your ideas, and I'm personally watching lots of playthroughs and reading lots of comments.

myPOPGOES was released out of nowhere, for basically no reason. Nobody asked for it. But the response has been fantastic. People seem to love the premise of a retro LCD toy version of a "sit and survive" game with draining resource bars, as well as the dark cutscenes, the new lore for Bonnie, the cute sprites, and Sian's awesome artwork. On behalf of the team, thanks very much. We loved working on it and we'll hopefully deliver an even better version of it in the near future.
POPGOES Evergreen:
Obviously, this week we've been a bit busy with myPOPGOES... so I don't have much to share here. I can say that all of the renders for the Photo Room have been finished, which is great.
Also, in terms of old FNAF characters getting some time to shine in POPGOES Evergreen, I can confirm that the Toy animatronics are NOT the only ones with that privilege. Model work has begun on others. Though they aren't enemies like the Falses. Still fun though.
Ellie has been working on stickers for GJ and will work on more booster pack artwork now.
Merch:
All of the Halloween Youtooz pins have been designed now, but the artwork needs touching up a bit before they can be submitted to Youtooz for their approval. In the meantime however, the original Popgoes pins have been shipped to me and I'll likely have them around the 13th of April. So though I can't count on it, maybe I'll be able to share some photos in next week's devlog!
What other merch would you like to see from POPGOES? And don't say a real-life myPOPGOES toy... that shit's impossible. But I did see some new FNAF merch on Twitter, for badges of security cameras from FNAF1, and what look to be rubber badges of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza tickets (with super bold colours and pretty amazing new artwork). I thought these looked awesome, but Sanshee hardly ever misses so that's not a surprise. I'd love to see Sanshee work on some Fanverse stuff. So maybe I'll speak to Scott about this after myPOPGOES is cleared up!
Also, the Fanverse plushies have finally appeared on Funko Europe's website, and some very old orders that I placed on 7th Dimension have actually been shipped. Maybe they're no longer GameStop exclusive?
Funko Europe - Popgoes the Weasel
Funko Europe - Blake the Badger
Funko Europe - Candy the Cat
7th Dimension (UK) - Popgoes the Weasel
7th Dimension (UK) - Blake the Badger
7th Dimension (UK) - Candy the Cat
Other:
Last thing I'll mention is that my audition tape for the Five Nights at Freddy's movie (prod. name BAD CUPCAKE) was released. You can watch it here. I was autitioning for the role of Freddy Fazbear, though I unfortunately did not get the part. Oh well!
Okay that's it! Very myPOPGOES-centric devlog this week, as you probably expected. Thanks for reading!
