Sculk Sensory Disease (S.S.D)
This is a disease that can be obtained while exploring in an ancient city. If you come into contact with some skulk that grows right under your feet as a result of something beside you dying near a catalyst you have a heightened chance of contracting this. The spores popping out of the skulk can be spread into the air to latch onto whatever is nearby, allowing it to easily spread around the underground. (I would say surface if people ever made it out of the Ancient Cities.)
Symptoms:
Severe Pain at point of contact
Headaches
Random sculk growing around the place of contact
Loss of sight
Heightened Hearing
Sensitive Sense of Smell
Prolonged Symptoms: 15+ Hours Later
Loss of cognitive ability
Full body sculk coverage
Complete blindness
Brain Damage/Failure
Heart Damage/Failure
Organ Failure
Psychosis
Personality Changes
Death
This can have a chance to land on the victim's clothes and spread from there giving them a chance to get rid of it before touching their actual skin. There are 15 hours before it will burrow through most clothing/shoes/coverings of the body.
Otherwise when this disease is contracted the only way that it can be officially removed is through removal of its contact point which could result in an extremity being completely removed. Two different outcomes can happen from this disease, the victim can either die and become a part of the sculk, or the victim becomes a warden as the sculk continues to grow around their body forming the large golem/warden like shape over time. Both of these require the sculk to take full control over the victim and has a 98% chance of death. This unfortunate disease was one of the main reasons why the ancient cities are the way that they were and how they became the way they did.
This can be seen in Humans, Zombies & Husks currently but other creatures could potentially be susceptible to this disease. All is unknown to scientists as to what the disease looks like physically and how it completely interacts with the body.
(Ofc there will be more I just need to work on the textures)
