Stepping Down.

Hi guys,

I'm stepping down from game development in favour of my mental health among other reasons. All projects I have will be put on hold indefinitely just in case I wish to return and finish what I started one day.

While game development can be a very fun thing to do, it's also EXTREMELY taxxing, it takes a lot to stay consistent with developing content to both add and post about. For me, I constantly pressure myself to dev when I can, which means I don't get much time to relax or to myself. And even when I get the odd chance to relax, the thought of "I need to dev, I need to get this done" is always lingering at the back of my mind.

Also I find the gaming and game dev space in general to be really oversaturated, and It no longer feels as special to me as it did back when I made El Donte v1 almost 2 years ago. Because game dev is so oversaturated, I see sloppy, rushed games from people that are made solely for follower or monetary gain more than I should and more than there should be on this platform. There is a difference between someone making their first game that's obviously not going be the best but learning and refining their craft with time (which if you do that I commend you massively) and devs consistently pumping out poor content and even stealing games at times. Those are the people that piss me off and make game dev even more of a hassle as I have to worried about being drowned in sloppy content that SOMEHOW might I add has traction, however some of the traction these accounts get are fake bot accounts or alt accounts which they use to inflate the numbers on their games, posts, etc to seem popular in an attempt to be better than everyone else.

Those that do that, you know EXACTLY who you are.

The trigger cause to me stepping down was an achievement grind that ended bad, really bad, I got an achievement that took a whole day of AFKing and when I restarted steam, I experienced data loss because I was forced into offline mode at some point during the grind and it got taken away from me, and now my steam hours are also fucked because the playtime numbers aren't synced between me and steam's servers, they keep fluctuating. It left a bad taste in my mouth and reminded me the parts of gaming, and also game development, that I HATE.

It made me question everything, and I later on had the idea to just.. abandon everything and return to my roots as a content creator, but have a fully fresh start. No more sock, new account, new channel, new everything, leaving everything I've created frozen in the past.

After some discussion with some close friends, I've decided to follow through with this. It's the best choice for both my health and also my time. Being a content creator gives me something creative to still work on without taking up as much time as game dev. I won't delist or delete anything I've made and it's the same deal with the files to everything I have personally, I'll likely store everything on a hard drive or something and store it somewhere.

I hope you guys have enjoyed PlugSock-et, and what it's come to be. I'm not going to link this new channel or anything related to it, I wish to fully leave this behind. I'll see you all in a different life.
