This is my Strawberry Crisis!! cover.

No more lyrics cover, since that might take a lot of time to make.

Who want to add a rhythm minigame featuring this song?

Yume Nikki, Yume 2kki and .flow features minigames in form of games that are in the gaming console of the protagonist (the minigames in question are NASU (Yume Nikki); various games found in the Console (Yume 2kki), and Shinsouku Neko (.flow)). These games just revolving around the player character collecting items to gain points similar to an archetypical Famicom / NES game, and these (mini) games does not have any interesting for the player to enjoy, just stick on with that boring "collecting things for points but with no purpose" gameplay.

But I want to make a turn with those minigames, by adding a rhythm-based battle minigame to which the player have to make their attack strike the opponent through a rhythm game-like timed attack system. This minigame is titled Gensou Rhythm Battlefields (幻想リズムの戦場), and despite it is styled like an RPG battle, actually it doesn't reward the player any EXP or something, to keep it true with the Yume Nikki-styled games' "pointless minigames", but still add something exciting for the player to enjoy.

The killer part of this minigame? I'm planning it to be a New Game+ feature, to which the player can unlock it after finishing the game once. I don't want to spoil that much, but one thing for sure: Once the player unlocks the minigame, the player is also able to go outside and challenge other characters (similar to OMORI's Pet Rocks minigame; the selection of characters to challenge depends on the day of week (maybe?)) aside from the default tracks that are available when the player access this minigame from Mari's room. (You ask me why Mari can leave the room once unlocking the minigame? I can't tell you now! When the game is released, play the game and witness the ending, you will know the answer answer after that! (hee hee hee)).

For the default tracks that the player can play in Mari's room, these tracks are not related to any of the characters that the player can challenge (including versions of Mari's mother Yumemi's tracks Strawberry Crisis!!, to which are covered to fit with Mari's taste of music (said in-universe to be remixed by Jane (she's also is a musician aside from being an idol), or even tracks that are related to characters that serves as the basis for the angel characters in the game (Now, Until the Moment You Die and Border of Life for example; since they are characters that make very few appearances in-game (except for Yuri; she appears prevalently in the game), but they are said to play a large part in Mari's life after the emotional breakdown, so Jane decided to cover those songs and implement them inside Mari's home version of her Gensou console in order to make her feel happy while playing this in her room, so as to make her feel easy because these tracks give her the feeling that the angels that are always there to protect her are with her (since it is the theme music that are most associated with them, duh!)). In short, the tracks that are available by default are NOT the tracks that are used in the battle sections of the characters the player can challenge (for example, if you expect Last Occultism on the default Gensou console (due to being Sumireko's track, and Sumi is considered to be the Windows version of Yumemi (Mari's mother in this Touhou AU)), then that's impossible due to Sumi is not even Yumemi's distant relative or student (even in my headcanon), so this track is not going to be used in Mari's default Gensou console, instead it will be used in the Gensou battle against Aya Usami (a Touhou fanmade character that is considered to be Sumi's cousin))

So that's the basics of the rhythm-based battle minigame that I'm going to implement in my game! I hope you appreciate this feature!

Question time! If you have anything curious about the system, just leave me a comment below! And I would like to ask you if you want me to implement the minigame in my game, just vote for me below! I will appreciate all of your answers!

Here's an example (prototype) of Mari's sprite, created using Aseprite trial version.

Colored using the NES palette.

This is literally the game's development state now.

Due to several reasons, the development of this game is halted, but it is anticipated that the development of the game will be resumed soon.
