I never thought when I started making cakes that there would be anything much beyond sharing happy times with people. But there is a sad side to it, too. This cake was for a little girl turning 8, but was cancelled due to the parents splitting, loss of housing, a restraining order- a huge mess. All a few days before her birthday. I offered to make it for free, just so she could still have something special, but was turned down. I have had this happen more often than you might think- people's lives are not all happy when it seems like they should be. The lesson is to try appreciate what you have when you have it. ❤️

This week was John's 18th bday, and he wants boring cakes now. Not like this smurf house when he was little. I loved how this came out
It has been a very long summer but I am still alive! I did a lot of traveling the east coast, got kids back to school, and dealt with lots of family stuff. I will be sharing my trip with you guys soon. Thanks to those who didn't give up on me :)
