Weekly Update #14

Time for yet another update!

Performance and Space Optimizations:

This is almost done. All pictures are copressed with tinypng and the audio is almost converted in OGG Vorbis. I’ve also cut down portion of the RTP size. I’ve also added a performance enchancing script to improve it further. There aren’t any issues with the other scripts (in question TheoAlen’s Insane Anti-Lag script is used), but I’ll be on the look out for any issues.

Fixing up the save system:

I noticed that a small portion of the players have an issue saving. I really don’t know why this happens, though I suspect that the game can’t access it’s folder (though I made sure that it will save and tested it). Due to this (and feedback from the RPG Maker Forums when I asked), I decided to set the save location to the player’s Documents folder. In addition, due to a un-fixable bug, I will also switch the save file format to prevent crashing (I apologize for this. I hate this too but that’s the only way to fix it).

Animation Improvements:

I found a way to improve the animations shown in maps (such as bonfires) (as I am on a metered connection, I cannot add any video/gif here due to data limit). I’m also working on a new cross-fade effect (with a script courtecy of KilloZapit) (though I don’t know if it will make it on any updates).

Dropping Windows XP support:

As I am transitioning to support Windows 10, unfortunatelly all of my tools are dropping Windows XP support and as such I will not proceed working on Windows XP support. I know I said that I may add it but since my tools won’t, I can’t do it.

That is all for now.

Something something... Stuff that I worked on.

Added the option to rebuild the cache. This will clear the cache and then decompress the files from the packages.

It's still pretty early work, but I am working on making the UI more dynamic and sleek. Including faces changing depending on their HP.

Waz zis? An overhauled map? Yes. Coming soon.

Wrote a tool that installs the game's dependencies. That means Northbridge will always use the latest version of the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

Enjoy a nice dish, get a nice buff. What's not to like?

A bit of an old but goodie coming back: Quick Load! In an upcoming update, you can jump back to where you left off with a push of a button.

It's pretty early, but here's a look at a mob manager, handling the enemies in the game. The code streamlines the programming of the enemies. Hopefully, I can expand it to more useful ways.

Added a simple audio system to the launcher.

Jump List returns in the next update.
