Who wants a crappy, half-finished cutscene?!

(Tiny little Outcasts devlog)

I'd been planning to make a different cutscene to show off for awhile, but it wasn't working out. And then today I found out I already made a bit of one, so I thought I'd show it off here despite it being nigh unpresentable because I promised a cutscene! Apologies for it not being finished or anything, but if I wanna show off a fully polished cutscene, I'm making a trailer.

Anyway, uh...

I've been slacking.

I've had a lot going on the past month, but I plan to really try to catch up on everything this week. I'm trying guys, I swear!

As for the state of the game, I've changed things a very tiny bit with the map since the last devlog: Due to the parallax backdrops being too small to scroll across an incredibly large map, I've made two additional grids to hold more maps, which will extend the areas between the City of the Council and the Ruined City (where the majority of the Anarchis are at).

I plan to finish at least one of the maps this week, and if I really dedicate myself I could probably have all the maps done this week. I think I'll try to get @ERROR989 and @TheMuffinMan343 in on adding some content to ensure the game has a lot to offer.

Sorry I don't have more progress to share, but this is a large project and I'd like for you to bear with me as I try to solo pretty much all of it. It's intimidating.

On a slightly different note, @LinkIncGames has recently been sharing thoughts and concepts he'd like to see in Outcasts, general ideas to increase playtime, help with execution, writing, etc. so I'd like to thank him for his general enthusiasm for this project. I wish I had the fire you did for this game, bro.

Also, today's his birthday! Be sure to leave him a shout or a comment on his post about it!

Later!

Hey there! Been a minute since we've had a proper devlog, huh?

So, I present to you the Outcasts battle system!

Allow me to explain what you're looking at here.

Hey there! So, I know I said I'd have a cutscene ready in the next devlog, but something much more important has come up.

Madeline is the main protagonist of the mountain climbing platformer, Celeste. The game has been praised for its visuals, gameplay, and introspective narrative. The game's creator Maddy Thorson confirmed that Madeline is trans in 2020.

Dive into the cozy post-apocalyptic open world of Critter Cove!

Gentleman Rat Studios (@GR-Rob ) describe it as “a little bit Animal Crossing, a little bit Stardew Valley. Maybe even a little bit Windwaker, too."

After a surprisingly short discussion with @LinkIncGames awhile back, we've decided to do a crossover.

I'm happy to announce that The Flipside's Mira Fletcher will appear in Outcasts!

Can we talk about Outcasts for a minute?

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

(Don't worry, I'll touch up the backdrops.)
