weekend_showcase in 2D Games

I'm participating in the GMTK game jam! A bit more than half of the time is over. From now on I have to create the art/sounds/effects and polish the game.
It's going to be some hard ~21 hours!


Portal chambers and barrel cannons allow for quick travel between locations.



Here are some screenshots from game I'm working on for GMTK Game Jam 2022.
 Player plays as a dice who can shoot. Its shooting pattern depends on number it's showing. Jumping, getting knocked over and falling could roll the dice changing the number.



 Shot 1 and 2: Special box which require reaching 400 score to break.
 Shot 3: New type of boxes which I'm working on currently.

The new version of Rail or Die will have improved effects. Here are the new effects of shots.

Added a new type of crate. You have to smash these gilded ones to open them!
Say hello to the Killbot(s). These guys are the deadliest enemies in the game. They will hunt you down relentlessly across terrain and bully you with bazookas and arm blades.
Luckily, they can only be found in the Arena. Something to look forward to!

Finally I add an automatic turret for Rail or Die as suggested by the players. It will be expensive and weak, but it attacks automatically, what is useful for late game.
Later there will be a system of hiring other crew.




My latest work:
 1. Rebalancing some levels to open chance to get higher score
 2. Working on alternate endless mode in which player drops random boxes


You can't crawl into tight spaces but can get other creatures to do it for you. Just be careful not to squish them!
