I love Danganronpa and have always wanted more of it. This seems like a really good idea!

Premise - What is Danganronpa RPG?

Danganronpa RPG is a fangame of well, Danganronpa, being created in RPG Maker VX Ace that takes place with the cast subject to a medieval fantasy AU. In the AU, everyone has special abilities which may or may not be magic and uses a weapon of choice based on their talent and/or personality. Nearly every character in the series will show up somewhere at some point with varying significance, including a few that were only merely mentioned in the series.


Plot

The plot is pretty much what you’d expect out of a classic JRPG: “Hero and his ragtag team of pals must collect the certain number of magical artifacts hidden around the world to defeat the ultimate evil being that is intent on destroying the world.” The hero being Makoto Naegi. "Ragtag team of pals" being the friends who have joined Makoto on his quest. "Magical artifacts" being Hope Shards. And of course, "the ultimate evil" to be defeated being Junko Enoshima and her despairing band of worshipers, along with her very numerous Monokuma minions.


Gameplay

It plays largely like any other classic JRPG, with random encounters and simple turn based battles. Every party member has completely different abilities and four can be used at once, with Makoto being required most of the time. Getting attacked fills up a character's Fever bar (Basically a Limit Break system) that when filled will allow them to unleash a unique powerful skill.


Party Members

The party members are for the most part, the survivors of the first game. There are some party members from the rest of the Danganronpa franchise as well, but for now, those will be a surprise. Here are the archetypes we assigned to the Danganronpa 1 survivors as well as short descriptions of their roles in battle.

Makoto Naegi
Job: Green Mage
Weapon: Sling
Has balanced average stats, except for a high Luck stat. He can cripple enemies with bad statuses and buff the party with positive statuses as well as shield them or sacrifice a turn to strengthen their attacks. His only reliable means of direct offense is his normal attack, so he's most useful for buffing his offensive allies.

Kyouko Kirigiri
Job: Ranger / Spell Fencer
Weapon: Bow
Magically defensive but has low speed. Her offensive capabilities on their own are rather mediocre, however, she can "Spellshot", which imbues her arrows with elements for a set amount of turns to take advantage of "elemental weaknesses". She can as well take advantage of the enemy's "category weakness" with "Slayer" skills. Slayer and Spellshot damage boosts stack, which makes her very useful when you know enemy categories. Her regular attack also never misses.

Byakuya Togami
Job: Dark Knight / Swordmaster
Weapon: Longsword
Reliable damage dealer with high offense, defense, and speed, but has low SP. He has a variety of different sword techniques that let him take advantage of the opponent when put into a corner, such as Minus Strike, which does more damage when his HP is low. He can also, like Kyouko, imbue his sword with the elements, hitting harder than her, but only does so for the turn.

Touko Fukawa (Genocider Syo)
Job: Black Mage (Assassin)
Weapon: Quill (Scissors, duh)
Touko has high SP, a high magical offense stat, but takes hits like a wet paper towel. She puts her SP and MAT stats to good use with her skillset full of offensive magic that destroys enemies. She can switch to Syo for half her Fever bar, which changes her skillset around to be physical-oriented instead of magic, and gets a massive boost in speed and physical attack.

Aoi Asahina
Job: Dragoon
Weapon: Polearm
Fast and hits hard, but her defense is left to be desired. However, she can compensate for that with her ability to equip heavy shields. She also has water magic, either to deal damage with, or in the form of special abilities that heal the party's HP either by percent or regeneration as well as shield them from the fire element and burns for several turns.

Yasuhiro Hagakure
Job: White Mage / Thief / Oracle
Weapon: Staff
Unlike the archetypes he takes after, Yasuhiro is very defensively-inclined, with high HP and defenses, but is very slow. As the white mage, he has the best healing abilities of the party and gets revival spells earlier than anyone else. He can steal items from enemies, which is handy for bosses that often carry rare equips. His Predict ability can turn the tide of battle in your favor or completely screws it.
