I know it hasn't been very long since the last one, but I'm experiencing high anxiety nowadays. I sleep too much, I'm not too motivated to do anything besides SSBF, I'm anxious about Christmas shopping and the like. To those of you who follow the game's Twitter feed, you already know all this. But I'll return sometime in January 2022. It's a long time, I know, but I want time to cool off and just focus on the game, and also get rid of these anxieties. I mostly want to put most of 2021 behind me, and let's face it, I lack a lot of updates that people actually care about: ie: actual progress on gameplay and the like.
See right now, I'm focusing on a lot of things under the hood: the custom physics engine, the moveset system, converting files (animations, sounds, etc), finishing up the newcomers' models, and all that. It's really nothing I'm ready to actually showcase. Sure, I can keep touting about how "oh, I got X feature working!". But people want to see more, may want to see Mario and Link start being able to actually fight and stuff like that, but right now I just don't have a lot. I don't know what came over me to publicize this game's development so early on. I hope you can all understand! It perhaps would've been fine if I hadn't canned/restarted the game countless times before. I'm a one-man team, which is why it's slow. But! Before you start sending me applications to join development, SSB Feud will remain a one-man project. I'm using it to familiarize myself with all the concepts, from coding/scripting, to animation, to models, etc.
But I promise you, I'm working hard, around the clock, even though I'm going on "hiatus". It's just a hiatus from posting useless updates, so I can focus on actually working. I refuse to cancel this game, as long as I can keep working.
Another thing is, I've got a bit of OCD: I'm "just a bit" of a perfectionist, I want things to work and look just right. Of course, I could just be a sleaze, rush the game and release a garbage build full of bugs, but I don't want to do that! I want to deliver a good fangame.
So yeah. Stick with me, eventually it'll be worth it ;) I was actually inspired by the SSB Crusade team, and will start planning a special surprise for you when I do return in January 2022!
Take care everyone, and I'll wish you all a happy New Year in advance!
