Howdy folks! Ghostly here!
Today I'm going to give you an overview of one of Typhoon Unit's unique game mechanics, the Synergy Boost! So to start...
What is Mana Synergy?
Mana Synergy is created by combining different types of magic. This combination causes a reaction that boosts the power of spells. In short, when you use multiple characters' skills, the whole team becomes stronger. Teamwork really is a powerful thing!
Cool! How can I activate Synergy Boost?
To activate Synergy Boost, use any character's special ability, and then switch to a different character within 3 seconds. Repeat the process to increase the Synergy Combo, which will build the score multiplier, and boost attack power!
The Synergy Combo meter will slowly decrease, and when it's empty, Synergy Boost ends, and the multiplier drops to zero. The meter will decrease faster during a large combo.
Why does Synergy Boost exist?
During some early testing of the character swap mechanic for Typhoon Unit, I found that players would generally stick to one character, and very rarely change unless a situation forced them into switching. In these scenarios, the players would be frustrated trying to figure out a character they barely used.
Synergy Boost was added to incentivize switching characters frequently and learning how to effectively use all three heroes' abilities. While using it isn't mandatory, the mechanic is tied to both attack power and scoring, so different types of players can find it useful.
That should cover the basics. When the demo goes live, I encourage you to experiment with the Synergy Boost mechanic, and aim for high combos! Thanks for reading!
