Howdy folks! Ghostly here!
It's been a long time coming, but I'm pleased to announce that Chapter 2: Echoes in the Waves will be playable in the demo for Typhoon Unit ~ Butterfly Requiem on June 6th, 2020! This is gonna be a major update, with a lot of stuff to look forward to. Here's a brief overview.
Chapter 2!
This new chapter follows the team as they embark on a mission across the ocean to find clues to Prisma's whereabouts. Meanwhile, they are being followed by an old acquaintance who knows Casey very well...
Maya!!! <3
The voice of the raging ocean, Maya is a world-renowned musician and mercenary! Maya shares in Casey's shady past, but unlike Casey, she never moved on from it.
Maya's siren charm makes her a deadly opponent, easily manipulating her victims into vulnerable positions. No matter who she fights, she's the one in control.
Improvements and Changes!
In addition to the new content, the update will include some major improvements and gameplay tweaks to make Typhoon Unit even more of a blast to play!
First thing to note is that you can customize your own control scheme now.
This was a highly requested feature. Just go into the options menu, and there's a new "Input" section, where you can customize controls on both keyboard and gamepad. Please note that tutorials and button prompts will be updated to match custom control schemes at a later date.
Secondly, basic spell abilities no longer cost mana energy to use!
Running out of energy constantly is rather un-fun, and as the level design becomes more reliant on character-specific abilities, it made sense to remove that limitation. However...
1.) Ability cooldown timers have been increased across the board to account for the removed energy cost.
2.) Bomb Spells still cost mana energy. From a full energy bar, you can use 2 Bomb Spells before having to recharge. This is consistent across all characters.
Synergy Boost has been tweaked to be more intuitive!
The Synergy Combo now increases when you use a basic spell, as opposed to on swap. In addition, the time that the Synergy Combo lasts is dependent on how effectively you use abilities. Missing completely or throwing out useless abilities will make the meter go down much faster, while dealing criticals, busting shields, and absorbing bullets will give additional time.
The update launches on Saturday, June 6th! I'm looking forward to it, and I hope you are too!
