Inventory upgrade!
(dropping items, using items, item stacking)
#devlog #horror #getout #inventory

I kept working on the inventory system. I implemented item dropping and item use. The UI hints are placed on the sides of the inventory.

Dropping items works like this: you can either toss an item and make noise, or you can aim at a table or any other flat surface and place it down quietly. This affects stealth, so you’ve gotta be careful.

Using an item depends on the item itself. There are 4 item types in the game: tools, meds, keys, and throwables.

Meds and throwables can be stacked (max 2–3 items per stack depending on the item).

Overall, I’m trying to make the inventory feel smooth and convenient by borrowing mechanics from different games - so looting and item usage also feed into stealth and tension.

In my game “The Storm Approaches”, the enemies are “dosimetrists” — radioactive corpses that hide underground.

Hey everyone!

I’m working solo with UE4 on a small atmospheric horror project (demo version).

Here are a few screenshots. I’m trying to balance darkness and visibility. Also working on making the comfortable HUD.

What do you think about it?

I added radioactive zones. They have a harmful effect on the player and are dangerous areas, but they contain pretty good loot.
