Yes, we finally got the back-end finished for a lot of stuff which means we can focus on other stuff and adding more features. Also this means a lot faster development time now since the bulk of annoying stuff has been written. Anyway let's go over the patch notes and more.
Do note more controls now.
Escape button for menu where you can find equipment, inventory, and back to main menu button. At main menu you can exit the game.
Left click for attack
Space to jump
Arrows to move
New Stuff
Inventory system
You can now collect items and more.
You can equip armor, weapon, and use items like potions
The inventory has tabs for item types
When you pick up and item at the bottom left of the screen it will say what you picked up.
Weather Effects
Added some rain effects and lightning effects for areas with windows and open rooms.
New character Animations
We have the new character animations in now.
We have four attack animations in Sword Slash, Dagger Stab, Spell casting, Bow animations. Do note we don't have a bow weapon yet and we need to link the dagger stab animations to daggers.
Combat
Added a timing system for colliding with attacks. This is just the beginning we need to work on this a lot before the next update comes out.
Stat system
The player now has stats. Go to inventory to see them. A dedicated stat menu is in the works. Including better equipment menu stat showing.
The equipment system already changes your stats based on what is equipped into the item slots.
Monsters do give exp and you do level up increasing your stats.
Save System
You will find mermaid statues around the game. These will be our save systems for now. You can click on them and save. If you die you can go to the main menu and load a save file.
Map
Added a couple new rooms and revamped a couple rooms.
Stuff we are working on next for an update.
Better GUI and UI systems. The inventory and so forth were thrown together art wise so we need to make art for them to make it look better.
Controller support
We will have full control support for everything by Alpha five.
Map
We are going to add at least 10 more rooms to the map. This will give people a lot to explore and I mean a lot. We will add another save spot too to make it easier.
I want to improve more rooms that already exist.
Traps
Next update prepare for some pressure plate booby traps and spike shooters.
Also lava pits that might appear after stepping on a pressure plate. Watch your steps.
Two new Monsters
One ground and one flying. won't give too much detail since we will be showing art later.
Weather Effects
Make lightning blink the lights on and off.
Fog effect
Rain can make puddles appear near windows and the puddles can reflect things around it.
Save System
Make it where you can load the game form save points so you don't have to go back to the main menu.
Combat
Improve combat damage timing
Improve combat knock back when taking damage.
Smoothing out some combat systems. Most less minor each, but together changes a lot.
This one is a stretch so might come next update
Alchemy system
Have a way to make potions and poisons.
Maybe a level up system or have it where you find blueprints and recipes in the game.
Smiting
Same thing as alchemy but for armor and weapons.
This one will go in probably the update after the next one, but weapon enchantments.
Weapons and armor can have slots where you place gem in to make better stuff.
If you enchant an item with certain effects it actually becomes a whole new item with different powers.
