Shields up and operational!
The shield is almost completely implemented. You can put it up, deactivate it, dodge out of it, jump out of it, grab when using it, and it will break properly!
All I need to do now is work on the Guard animation to point the shield directionally, like, left, right, up, down, etc. And make it shrink when you hold it down. I'm really happy with my work here! I spent all day programming this with Unity constantly crashing between saves lol. I was afraid I'd lost all my work.
I also finally got the shield to properly render, going OVER the fighters and terrain! That I'm happy about too. I stopped using it with Particles, and now thanks to bgolus on the Unity forums, I have his shader for billboard surfaces! I edited it to have alpha blending and the like as well as emission colors (the player 1 red, for instance, is done via Emission and not diffuse/albedo.)
I even coded the function to make it regenerate over time! :D The actual decay and regen rates use the same values/formula as Ultimate's shields! Not much is left to do on the Shield. Except those 2 things! :D
Other than that, that's it for this update! It's short but I wanted to share, like, really badly!!
