Game
Five Rounds at Freddy's

Welcome 2 posting:

While I work on the game, I will be posting little tutorials here. I’m surprised nobody questioned the whole “inspired by Guilty Gear and Tekken” thing, but these posts will explain how that works anyway.

For more incremental posts about specific art assets and stuff, you can check out my tumblr or my bluesky.

The Four Buttons:

Five Rounds at Freddy's uses four attack buttons. On a standard controller tilted to the right, the top left button is 1, top right is 2, bottom left is 3, and bottom right is 4. This is the same layout used in Tekken.

The Nine Directions:

There are nine directions you can press on the d-pad (including not pressing anything at all). Each direction is abbreviated to a letter and can be combined with a button to perform different attacks.

For example, pressing up and 1 at the same time will perform the move u1. Pressing down-forward, 1, and 2 at the same time will perform the move df12.

This means each character has at least 36 grounded moves, with nine on each button.

Character Specific Button Names:

Each button does something different depending on the character. 1 is usually punch and 3 is usually kick. For Freddy and Bonnie, 2 is long attacks and 4 is wide attacks.

Special Moves:

Some moves are performed with special inputs like down, then down-forward, then forward (the input for Hadouken in Street Fighter).

Slightly older gameplay showing hitboxes and meters

Effects and grabs!

When you block incorrectly, a warning sign will appear above your head telling you where you should have blocked.

I have survived the gauntlet of bugs and mechanics and can now work on making the game pretty! Still no sound though.

Bonnie's movement animations. The sidestep away from camera has the newest version of the shader.

I return with sidestepping! And a bunch of technical stuff i cant really show!! Also his model is still old so ignore that!!!

I tried to keep up the effect of the game being 2d by limiting the amount of frames "drawn" when sidestepping.

What do you think?

Here's an early version of the UI and a new logo. The blue chunks in the top corners are where the character icons will go.

What do you think?

GRAPHICS!!!

(ignore the old character model)

Fake perspective and layers! The models are distorted to make them appear like pre-made renders or drawings. The gameplay video posted right after this shows how it used to look.

Behold! You can win and lose now! It's weird to see the game actually coming together. The main things left to do are animations, a handful of simple moves, and effects (like shadows)

Just as Pecaminosa's musicians #improvise this rendition of #LittleSunflower 🌻, so do we improvise with this post you're reading. 😂

What's coming out of your own improvs? 🤔

This Satuday we invite to watch another #speedpainting of our artist Daniel Faiad.

How great is this scene of #Pecaminosa?

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!
