They look like they are being rendered with a perspective camera, but they are actually being rendered with an orthographic camera. Because they are being rendered with an orthographic camera, they do not appear smaller when they are farther away. This means you can create a 2d layer effect by pushing lower layers away from the camera. The orthographic camera also stops them from distorting near the edges of the screen.

Behold! You can win and lose now! It's weird to see the game actually coming together. The main things left to do are animations, a handful of simple moves, and effects (like shadows)
Slightly older gameplay showing hitboxes and meters
I return with sidestepping! And a bunch of technical stuff i cant really show!! Also his model is still old so ignore that!!!
I tried to keep up the effect of the game being 2d by limiting the amount of frames "drawn" when sidestepping.
What do you think?
Here's an early version of the UI and a new logo. The blue chunks in the top corners are where the character icons will go.
What do you think?
Bonnie's movement animations. The sidestep away from camera has the newest version of the shader.
Welcome 2 posting:
While I work on the game, I will be posting little tutorials here. I’m surprised nobody questioned the whole “inspired by Guilty Gear and Tekken” thing, but these posts will explain how that works anyway.
Just as Pecaminosa's musicians #improvise this rendition of #LittleSunflower 🌻, so do we improvise with this post you're reading. 😂
What's coming out of your own improvs? 🤔
