LUNAR LACUS is a first-person experience that takes players on an exciting journey to the moon. Set on the rugged and isolated terrain of Lacus Solitudinis, this game challenges players to explore and survive in the harsh lunar environment.
As the sole astronaut on this mission, the player must navigate dangerous terrain, overcome unexpected challenges and complete all of their missions in order to return to Earth. Whether it’s repairing a malfunctioning piece of equipment, locating resources or simply performing scientific experiments, the player will need to be resourceful, determined and think quick to succeed.
“Lunar Locus” will demonstrate interesting information regarding space exploration that tends to go unknown or misunderstood, alongside providing a glimpse into the challenges of visiting our nearest celestial neighbour. Through the stylised graphics, challenging gameplay and educational goals “Lunar Locus” offers a unique opportunity to learn about both game design and the universe we’re a part of.
At the moment, the game is aiming for prototype status and is solely made as part of a game development course. I plan to provide weekly updates, that span 7 weeks. If there is any traction beyond that, I'll happily continue to work on the game and add more features such as:
Lunar Descent
Lunar Ascent
Liftoff (Earth)
Martian Landing
VR
But those aren't promises, just something that would add to the overall experience. They aren't planned and are more than likely not going to happen! But, if you want to see something like that, hit like and follow the page.
