UNDERTALE Hard Mode: Director's Cut

UNDERTALE Hard Mode: Director's Cut is a fan-made mod by the Directors Crew. It aims to complete UNDERTALE's unfinished Hard Mode following Toby's vision to the best of our ability, while also adding our own flavor to the project, where we find suitable.

• Many additions to the RUINS, such as harder puzzles, overworld sprites for Final Froggit and Parsnik, and more.

• Tougher versions of most enemies, featuring new designs, harder bullet patterns, and completely new ways to interact with them!

• Brand new equipment, with special features within them!

• Existing bosses gain new bullet patterns!

• Hellishly difficult hidden bosses!

• Brand new dialogue in cutscenes and flavor text, all while staying true to Toby Fox's signature humor.

• All-new Trophies, alongside the existing PS4 ones!

• An Extras menu with helpful settings, such as: Trophy viewing, save data management, etc.

• “Hey, it’s Mr. Sunshine!”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!

Q: I encountered an issue!

A: First, check the "Troubleshooting" section of our guide. If your issue is not mentioned there or you were not able to solve it, please contact us at [email protected]! Make sure to explain how the issue happened, and send the “crash.log” file, which you can find in the mod’s save file folder (go to %localappdata% and locate the folder called “HardMode”.)

Q: Do you still need to name yourself "Frisk" to activate Hard Mode?

A: Yes, you still do.

Q: What are the release plans for this mod?

A: We plan on releasing various demos, each containing another area of the original game. So:
* Demo v1.0 - RUINS & Snowdin
* Demo v2.0 - Waterfall
* Demo v3.0 - Hotland & CORE
* Full Game!

Q: Will this mod have an Android port?

A: Likely not. Since it's a mod, it'd be hard to port and it'd also require you to obtain an 'illegal' port of UNDERTALE.

(Though, if you find a way to make a port work... we wouldn't mind. Just be careful with how you distribute it, and don't say it was made by us!)

Q: Will the story be changed in any major way?

A: No, it will not. However, many scenes (especially puzzle-related ones) will have differences here and there.

Q: Will [Character] get a new design?

A: It depends! All random enemies and most mini bosses will get new designs, whereas main characters will not. Secret bosses like Glyde and So Sorry won't either, though Mad Mew Mew will.

Q: Will characters like Asgore, Toriel, Papyrus, etc, get genocide battles?

A: No. Most of the characters that did not have fights in the genocide route fights in Normal Mode will also not have them here. Mostly because it does not fit their character. We do not plan on changing that any time soon. As such, do not insist...

Q: Will Mettaton NEO have a battle?

A: Yes!! He will have one!!!

Q: It has been awhile since the last Update. Is this cancelled?

A: Not at all! We are do not plan on cancelling any time soon. If we end up not giving updates, it either means we just don't have nothing interesting or spoiler-free to show. Apologies if that is the case!
