Double Patch! (Stable Version D0.20 Update 6 / Second Edition Beta Build 20181229)

Just in time for the new year.

In a surprising twist, both the current and the beta version get updates. While for the most part, they are quality of life improvements and fixes, the current version has a major improvement.

Immortal Sins Version D0.20 Update 6

Been a while to see an update, ey?

This update uses a new renderer that supports full hardware acceleration via DirectX 9. This provides a massive performance boost. Since it supports DX9, it’s no longer necessary to include OpenGL 3.x support, as the library provided limited benefits. There’s also a new menu (accessible by pressing F1) that allows turning on/off V-Sync and changing the controls. I hope that I can add controller support as well. And I’ve backported some of the changes I made in the Beta Builds to Northbridge.

Immortal Sins SE Build 20181229

This build has bugfixes for the prologue, minor tweaks and minor improvements to Northbridge. Not much, to say the least.

The update is rolling out to all mirrors. These will be the last updates of the year (unless there’s a need for a hotfix). I hope you all enjoy these updates and have happy holidays. See you in the next post.

A small teaser for the next update.

Time for a bit of shenanigans: RPG Maker MV running on top of Tauri! This more future proofed framework means better performace and smaller file sizes. It does require some re-work in the engine, but it could lead to true cross-platform games.

Added the option to rebuild the cache. This will clear the cache and then decompress the files from the packages.

It's pretty early, but here's a look at a mob manager, handling the enemies in the game. The code streamlines the programming of the enemies. Hopefully, I can expand it to more useful ways.

Wrote a tool that installs the game's dependencies. That means Northbridge will always use the latest version of the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

Jump List returns in the next update.

Done some improvements to the backup system. Even added an icon to let you know that it's working.

Something something... Stuff that I worked on.

A bit of an old but goodie coming back: Quick Load! In an upcoming update, you can jump back to where you left off with a push of a button.

Implementing Armor Corrosion. This put quite a dent in the target's armor for a short time.
