Hey all! I'm back with some new stuff to show c:

I've started work on my world's tectonic history – here's what I've got so far, 150 million years of drift! And I'll go on for about a billion more years or so, till I get a present-day map I like

I'll try posting my progress as I go, so far I'm progressing at a rate of about 50 million years per day. We'll have our first collision soon! I'm having a blast simulating this and can't wait to see the final thing c:

PS: next post right after this one is another video but showing the actual tectonic plates!

If you're curious about how to do the same, the software used is GPlates (and it's FOSS!) which is notoriously complicated and unintuitive but honestly, after playing around in it for a week or so, and making a demo planet first, I now quite enjoy working in it.

A word of advice: learn Topologies!!! It will not only save you immense amounts of time and tedious mouse clicks, but will also result in super clean geometries that match up perfectly at the edges (so no gaps or overlaps between shapes that are supposed to be glued to each other).

Other than that, two amazing resources/guides covering all that you'll ever need to know for making a fictional plate tectonics history:

  • Worldbuilding Pasta: Plate tectonics – this will teach you how tectonics work, aka how to know what to do in every situation you might encounter during your simulation (what if two subduction zones collide? what can cause a continent to break up? etc)

  • Worldbuilding Pasta: GPlates tutorial – this is the technical side, how to use the software and how to model the stuff shown in the first post inside GPlates

  • Artifexian: GPlates series – this is the same as the tutorial above but in video format; I personally followed both at the same time to get the best of both worlds, and also there are some little useful things that are in one format but not the other

Feel free to ask if you need any help c:

I just finished this chapter, my God the end was so beautiful… It's exactly the kind of cinematic experience I want to create..

The Great Ace Attorney is truly an inspiration for me, it's my favorite game of all time, so glad I still have 2 chapters left!

Progress update ~

Implemented parallax and interaction markers! I probably still need to tweak the speeds of each layer (even though I already spent a whole day on it )

Backgrounds created using Hugues Laborde's amazing viking asset pack (link in desc)

Yeah, "MC" stand for Main Character – I still don't have any name ideas for her help?

She's the one you'll play as in Purple; energetic but reasonable, she'll lead the escape operation! She looks a lot like her mom, which I drew a sketch of a while back.

@AnubiArts is a Jolter to Watch! They post great pixel and low poly art! Follow them before the quest ends on December 31 and you'll get Coins!

Playing around in #Vroid Studio!

I think Lulu came out pretty well, even though I used preset hair/eyes. I'm excited to know what I could do with custom ones… *v*

Vlad though, I couldn't get right. The profile view looks good but the front is so bad c':

Youhou! It's been so long since last time, and that's 'cause I was working too passionately on this – v0.1 of my current narrative game (aka Project Purple)

The base game loop is complete! Read the article for more details c:
