Poll from yesterday had decided 128 Tiles

+Updates to the Editor's UI

It had been decided from yesterday that the Editor (and engine in general) will use 128 tile variations to build with :

  • 64 Regular Tiles for map-making

  • 64 Solid Color tiles for Pixel art and/or backgrounds

I had also decided to slightly revamp the editor a bit, by including a much more user-friendly way of selecting the texture you want (As seen in the first picture), taking slight inspiration from Mari0's Map making GUI, since i thought the previous version of it was going to be ridiculous with 128 Tiles

(will eventually include a "Next Page" button for the solid colored tiles)

This can be accessed by simply pressing the cog icon as seen in the 2nd image, after which you can either simply click the tile you wanna change to, or press "Ctrl" and exit out of it

PSA : If you see a comment similar or identical to this on any game pages, do not click the link attached on them, that will give you a virus, i try to get rid of these as soon as i can, but if one happened to slip through, report it and move on

Both the engine and level editor are basically complete now!

I'm thinking of releasing a "Community Version" of this for those that just wanna play custom levels as opposed to the more "Story-Driven" version of this game

What do you guys think?

First 64 Tiles done for the level editor!

I was bored so i drew this

one of the rare moments where i did not use pixel art, never thought it'd ever happen /hj

Jokes aside, i actually really like drawing these landscapes when i have nothing else to do, what do you guys think of this?

i have surpassed 1k lines of code today

i am 99% sure that's not something to be proud of...

The amount of optimization i'll have to do to something like this is gonna be hell, wish me luck

Small update at the default stages + Thinking about how custom levels should be shared

All 128 tiles are complete, Engine is also complete with every feature, including custom music support, now's probably time to stop messing around and actually work on the default stages :P

Level Editor Progress :

Looking basically done, the last thing i probably have to implement by now is the exporting process (As well as all of the graphics for the tiles, i managed to get about 4 of them in)

Should i make this editor public? lemme know!

Current state of my newest project

* Loading level from file - Complete

* Full character animations - Complete

* Player movement/collision system - Complete

Looking pretty good! Might need a level editor, though...

Title screen is complete!

I feel like i should make a HTML file explaining all of the features, there's a few stuff here that i fear most players will not understand without a tutorial

It's probably for the better, I'll be working on that tomorrow...
