Progress Report #51

Well… It’s been a while doing something like this. The 2nd half of 2017 was a bit of a mess for me. Writer’s block, loss of motivation, and university stuff got in the way. I’m starting to get back to developing content for Immortal Sins. So, what have I’ve been working on?

eManual

One of the things I regrettably left uncooked is the game’s manual. For a while, it was stuck with very little information. Until now. I have started working on the manual. I have added quite a lot of info on it and polished the presentation a bit. You can take a look at it here: http://northbridgemantis.azurewebsites.net/wiki/doku.php/en/immortalsins

Sure, it still needs work. But it’s coming along nicely.

Re-organizing the project files

While writing the dialogue for the game, there were times that I would hit a block and find my notes for the game’s story (including character notes). While I don’t have any bid organization issues, having them all in one place is pretty welcome. I have bought Nimble Writer (which is a text editor designed for novelists, but with some plugins I was able to make it work with what I want) since it adds some features that I wanted to have. I have re-organized the dialogue files and my notes into one file so I can have them in a convenient place. This is mainly a measure to improve my workflow.

That’s pretty much it for the moment. Aside from trying to reduce the game’s size (mainly so I can upload it quicker) most of the things I’ve done are related to the game. I do have an idea to make a QnA post (or possibly a video). If you guys are interested, let me know.
I’ll see you guys in the next post.

Next up

A bit of an old but goodie coming back: Quick Load! In an upcoming update, you can jump back to where you left off with a push of a button.

Jump List returns in the next update.

Something something... Stuff that I worked on.

It's still pretty early work, but I am working on making the UI more dynamic and sleek. Including faces changing depending on their HP.

Wrote a tool that installs the game's dependencies. That means Northbridge will always use the latest version of the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

Added achievements. Because why not?

Implementing Armor Corrosion. This put quite a dent in the target's armor for a short time.

It's pretty early, but here's a look at a mob manager, handling the enemies in the game. The code streamlines the programming of the enemies. Hopefully, I can expand it to more useful ways.

A small teaser for the next update.

Done some improvements to the backup system. Even added an icon to let you know that it's working.
