Congrats to @SuperrONNY8 , @Sarnes , @The_chaotic_Jackal , @Bored_Dude , @PumpkBro , @MatticraftAccelerant for opening GameJolt every day of December
This year was probably my best year in terms of achievements so far.
I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to EVERYONE who is and was SUPPORTING me throughout my projects!
Milestones achieved in 2024:
10 official games published on GJ
250 followers on GJ
Finally finished the first version of Honomaiwa (my 1st AI)
Throughout this year I learnt a whole range of new stuff from programming to design to art. I started to take game development and art seriously and getting a bunch of progress done. I also met a bunch of really cool people.
I've grown so much in terms of skill and the number of people I met, that it seems 2024 was 2 years long.
The downs of 2024
When looking at 2024 as a whole, people and companies have both made very amazing creations and made very good desicions. But just as much have made terrible and awful ones that surpass previous ones. I'm not going to go in-depth into any of these because there's a lot of them that I'll bet will take me a whole week straight without breaks to write all of them - not a joke. I also just don't want to talk about any of them in general. All I hope for 2025 in terms of the society is, not to be as fucked up as 2024.
My plans for 2025
I wished for only two things:
Be efficient
And take care of myself
Both are straight forward but the last one is very difficult for me to do. Most friends and every best friend of mine knows that I try to take care of them by motivating or trying to get them out of trouble. I tell them to take care of themselves. I on the other hand just ignore the health problems that I have and carry on saying, "egh, I'll do it tomorrow". By health problems I'm talking about sleep deprivation, hallucination (sight and sound), and because of those, being sleepy 24/7. Guess what, tomorrow never happens. I know, very shocking. To explain why, let's move to the next topic.
What is to be expected from me in 2025:
I had two choices to choose from:
I work on small projects for the rest of 2025
Or I work on big projects for the rest of 2025
I decided to go with the second option. This might be a bit confusing, but bear with me (I hate English). When working on small projects, they mostly last for around 1-2 weeks. Small projects are not test projects. Test projects are test projects. They take a few days and are made to mess around. Small projects usually take locking in nearly every day. It always goes the same way: I work on the project at day for 1-3 days, then the rest I work at night (9pm-2am - this is minimum and max time. Usually it's more from 10pm to 1am or less). This makes me wake up late in the morning - go figure. I've been having 8 hours of sleep almost consistantly each day. Very cool except not cool because I got to sleep at 2:30am every day consistantly. Working on big project makes the deadline longer and more spread out. It's also expected of big projects to take a long time - meaning days where I say "I don't feel like it" is more forgivable. Around maybe 70-80 percent of the "I don't feel like it" days are because I'm tired. If you look at discord a lot and see me playing a game when I'm supposed to be working on something, it's prolly 'cause I'm tired and gave up that day. Because of small projects, a lot of planned stuff have gone abandoned. One of these was an idea I think could've won me a game jam with 150 entries (in games not people (over 500 people entered if you're curious)). I couldn't finish the game because, well, I just finished a different game jam, had I another game to make, had to draw an artwork and do anatomy practice, and all was expected to be finished in around a week. I got so tired and overwhelmed that I forgot to do half of the stuff I promised. I feel very guilty for the people who I promised some awesome stuff. I hope this explains my second wish and the reason I chose it.
What are the projects that are to be expected from me in 2025
My 1st OG dream game - The Chubbies. More specifically the second prototype that was promised in November 2024. My future self proofreading this: It was actually planned somewhere in 2023 when I started working on The Blue Room : REBORN. The second prototype will be made in Godot instead of JS because, well, if you know, you know.
My 2nd dream game which I'm keeping a secret. I'll be making the 3rd version of it because the other two didn't go the way I wanted.
Goombas Revenge - A project that I'm making with a team of people that I hope to resume soon. If you know some JS, we'd love to have you! An additional programmer wouldn't hurt.
A secret project. This project is not a game. I'm probably going to keep it a secret until 2027. I'm not sure though. Also, no, I can't give a single hint. Not even a tiny one.
My 2 AIs that I'm both proud of and hate - Honomaiwa (never misses a chance to roast me ;-; help me) and Ororoku (very quirky but that's what makes him different). Join my Discord server to get sneak peaks of both and some devlogs that I post only there about other projects.
These are my current big projects that I'm working on. I also decided to only allow myself to work on one small project. This one small project has to be completed before I can move on to a different small project. This means that once I chose that project, it's locked in until it's done.
Hold on a second...
If you haven't already got it, these projects are about game dev and programming. For art, basically nothing changes except that I can only work on one big project at a time. I only have one big project in art, but, just in case, you never know what my brain can think of - no really you can't:
Over-fried ultra rare avocado peal pokemon on 5 diet cokes
My fav statement now XD
Check out @workertr and @swiftcod3 . Very good people!
This was on my Discord server. *cough* shameless plug *cough*
Animation reveal
I made a poll a few days ago if you'd like to see the sketch of the 250 follower special animation. Well, majority said yes. Here it is. NOTE: The sketch is not finished. I'm currently adding on around 10-15 more seconds to this animation. Some movements in this animation is very clunky and look bad. I plan on fixing those. Others, like the sliding and pupil moving, ino is very smooth. Totally did not take a bite of a planet... no actually I'm planning on making this 30-60 second animation series. Ik, I'm crazy when I'm sleep deprived.
Info about the 2024 recap art
Yeah that's it. What did you expect?! Another paragraph?... Pfft... you get a little break from it.
Art of 2024:
Traditional:
My biggest traditional artwork so far (took around 7 hours in the span of 3 days):
I also made some others (took 3 hours in the span of a day):
The bat was for the GJ 2024 Halloween Quest Day 3.
Here is some doodles that I made to get used to the fundamentals of anatomy:
This section might be a bit suggestive according to some classmates of mine.
Looking back, I can see a lot of mistakes (Knee, leg, forearms, and so on).
An OC that I made. Here's the lore about this and where I got this idea from.
Some finsihed and unfinished doodles that I'll finish later:
On Chirstmas, I got 2 art books. Those anatomy doodles above was made around 1-2 months ago. With the help of the art books and practising I've gotten a bit better. You might think this is barely any practise but those are doodles, not sketches. In other words, I have sheets of paper covered in cylinders (for those who remember starting out anatomy, could prolly imagine it rn), hands, triangles... we don't talk about the triangles, and stuff like that.
Digital:
Very quick animation that I did for a post. My first official non-pixel art animation that I finished.
Smile.
A worm battle that me and @swiftcod3 had. The post. This was my worm:
Cthulhu fan art that I made because I like Cthulhu.
Fan art of one of @MatticraftAccelerant 's many OCs. Looking at this now when I'm learning anatomy, WHAT ARE THOSE ARMS AND HANDS ! It's fine... my excuse, I didn't know anything about how to draw a human. I really wish I started learning anatomy earlier.
Fan art of Purple Guy from FNaF:
Art of Ronald the Duck from one of my games called Business Booming using the GJ colors.
I have another artwork that is really cool and creepy, but unfortunately, it's part of a secret project. So, sorry.
There was also some art request that I made for people. I still have some unfinished, so I'll try to do them as soon as possible.
Conclusion
There's a lot of stuff that I learnt and a lot more to come. Thank you again to everyone who has and still is supporting me in my journey. I have started working on some very cool projects that as always, I can't wait for ya'll to see!
