Hear me out:
For a few of yall, I have been able to occasionally play your games simply because of how easy and accessible they are - particularly, those who have free web builds with simple mechanics. This message is primarily for the people whose games have to be downloaded and have more complexity.
Also notice that I said "some of your games" - I have made it clear multiple times that I cannot respond well to horror or graphic violence of any kind. If your game falls in that type of category or has either of those things, all it's ever getting from me are likes and follows for the purpose of boosting your project so that those interested may find them sooner. I mean it when I say I want you to succeed, even if I can't bring myself to interact with what has always triggered a traumatic response out of me. Even it's just a like or follow I will do something to help you.
Now for the rest of yall, most of you have relatively large games that must be downloaded to play. As I am an active solodev, I am not likely to try and make time to play anyone else's games while I am working to make every facet of mine behave correctly. That's a lot of work, especially since I am on my own and I choose to make no profit from my effort. My reminders to play demos and things like that are mainly directed towards people without game projects to do, that just play indie games with their free time, though I am grateful when fellow devs find my game enjoyable as well. I always read comments and think over any feedback that evidently shows that the person gave the game a try and/or kept up with the devlogs.
I will often just boost your game project in smaller ways as I log in everyday, such as liking and/or following, and/or leaving a comment based on your game's screenshots and description that help put it in a better light for anyone that comes to your game page and reads it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
As you know, I am currently building a very big, slightly complex and long-runtime game. I believe the product will show the effort I've put in, but I am not naive enough to hope it will be reflected in the analytics. I have not forgotten where I am, and barring some sort of miracle, it is most likely that the completed game will get little to no traffic for the first couple of weeks and/or months (I can only hope people enjoy the game enough to help it along by word of mouth).
After the game is completed and released, however, I plan to be inactive in game development for a while to focus on my art, finish some arcs of the Eternal Frenemies webcomic and plan my next game (so that when I return to dev activity, I won't be so overwhelmed). It is while I wait for an audience to build that I will make the effort to download some of your games, play them, and gather my thoughts in order to present a thorough, yet beneficial review to try and help attract more people.
So please don't worry, I haven't forgotten about your games, I'm just focusing on mine so that I can bring my best.
