Only issue currently with this system is I'm using a temporary tween, which doesn't seem to get cancelled if it's triggered again so if you were to spam eat the animation gets messed up.
Swapping to a permanent Tween would fix it, but that means another variable.

I got it working?! And so soon after thinking of it too! 
The water shader has the land added to it with subtract blend(removing the land area), so I just have to add the pond back in with the add blend! BOOM! Ponds with water!
