Hello everyone, this is the second episode (Story of Ladder Up), in this episode I will talk about how the main character of the game was created.
Initially, when I was making a prototype of ira on (Clickteam Fusion), the main character looked like this:

At that time, I hadn't thought about what it would look like yet, so I threw in the first version for testing. However, when I decided to make the game in 2d, I realized that this sprite was not suitable for me and I needed something else (The picture below is the concept art of the main character):

I started experimenting with pixel art and initially I got this:

But after I added it to the game, it stood out from everything else in the game, so I started reducing the pixel resolution, and the final version appeared, which you can see in the game.
When I started working with dialogues in the game, I came up with the idea to add large-scale images of characters, so I started drawing portraits.

After that, I took photos, transferred them to my laptop and (Asprite) redrawn the picture.
By the way, initially, when I was writing the plot of the game, I called the main character by the name (Eugene) in the script, but at the end of writing the script, I decided to change the name and replaced it with the name (Mark), also while I was changing the name of the main character, I also came up with another character (Larry), but that was it quickly, I came up with a name, drew a portrait, redrawn the sprite of the main character under (Larry) and that's it.
