So for more details, here is where we are right now...
The script, game logic and sprites are done, and I am checking every line of dialogue to add the sprites and check for bugs (this is only half the battle as I will have to technically do it all again once the build is made for testing the API and browser compatibility).
The story has a lot of dynamic moments - that is, moments that would suit the cutscene style better, making for a lot of game CGs. They are all drawn, but there are a few left that need color and shading.
As for the music, I am delving more into composing songs to suit every situation, but I will put a cap of maybe 20 tracks for the sake of staying under 1GB. Speaking of which....
I have to be transparent: in response to my email for permission in advance to surpass the 1GB limit for game builds, the GameJolt support team asked for a definitive final size to my game build, which I do not have yet. I figured this was the signal for me to try my best to shrink down all of the game's largest assets and as a result, the game build is currently low enough under the 1GB limit that I may have to apologize for wasting their time (and by extension, yours by pushing for demo plays beforehand). I plan to email them back with the final game size once I finish and compress everything intended for the game (and who knows, the music might be the dealbreaker).
One thing's for sure, whatever ends up in or out of the game, the release window of March 30th to April 10th is still my goal, and I plan to achieve it! I will post the final release date when all files are done. I will also pluck up my courage and maybe post what I consider a few really good songs here as well!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the fact that I don't yet have a lot to show in terms of spoiler-free finished product and I have a lot on my mind, it will be a few days you will see just the long article posts about opinions I have in and around being a game dev and/or an internet presence. I know some of you aren't really fans of that content type, but it works as a sort of therapy for me right now so I ask that you bear with me, as I still plan to share more game-related information in the coming days.
So that's all for now! Rest easy knowing that I am steadily and surely making progress on finishing and testing the game!
In the meantime, I ask that you either play the available demo and/or tell others you think might be interested to check it out too - gotta hype up the full game as much as we can!
