Immortal Chronicles - Pre Alpha Testing

Version: 0.0.9about 19 hours ago
These builds are for testing out stuff before adding it to the game's story and game play content builds. These will have a lot more functionality than game mechanic builds and will over time feel more like an actual game people can playthrough.

Early testing disclaimer: the first set of builds are for testing certain mechanics only and not meant for actual game content stuff. I will have different downloadable packages to for actual game content builds. Art, animations, and UI are being worked on after the first couple test builds, so they look incomplete right now and some buttons not implemented.

Immortal Chronicles is a Metroidvania pixel art game that focuses on allowing the player to make choices that influences how the characters around him develop and how the map itself changes. Branching paths allow for players to get to different areas in different ways allowing for a variety of ways to play through the game.

The game will allow for interactive map elements that change based on what items you use in combat or what spells you use. Depending on what combat path you play you might be able to take different routes before getting certain items.

Don't want to do the quest for water walking boots than find some ice magic to freeze the water allowing for a new way to make it over to the other side. Maybe even find a way to the room above the underwater canal and try to bring the ceiling down to create a new path from the falling debris.

Enjoy some choices in your learning tree to find different ways to win against your enemies. Maybe try adding your spells to mid weapon combos to see how that works. Never know what might happen if you try casting ice magic while doing a down thrust with your sword.

The game will be worked on over a long period of time it won't be anytime soon it comes out, but we want to start sharing the new remade version of it.

Note this is a revival of the team's project from a couple years ago. This is the link to the old version of the game for those wondering about its past development.

Started making a mini diagram to show each region and the connections between them. This way people will have a semi direction hint before the map system update comes out. There are more regions not shown.
Note this doesn't include the fast travel system.

Started on the interior for the tavern. The tavern will be where you get quests and can gather information from NPC you made friends of.

The tavern NPCs are just stock placeholder art for now and will be replaced later with more custom art.

Game Mechanic Builds - Initial Game Systems Test

Important note to players trying it out.

Small update real quick. Item dropping now works.

Enemies will have their own loot drop tables and a regional table. All enemies in a map, let's say for example the jungle, can now drop loot from a shared loot table on top of their own specific one.

The start of the character stat system is ready for the next build. Enemies should actually take a variety of damage starting next build.

Nice little screen shot showing on the right side a nice little editor to see stat changing effects and the sources.

Here is a small video to just show the work in progress save and load system being put in the next build.

Got new builds being prepared now for the project. Since the last post a lot of big things have started to come into the project. Read the article for the rundown.

Current release build: Private test 0.0.2 UI update

Version 0.0.2 overview article

This build is just to start getting the new logic of the UI code in game that was done after the development restart.
Note not all the original art is in yet.

Regarding our audio tracks here. We are uploading different versions than the old ones. We didn't see an edit volume button for Game Jolt, and we want to lower some of the starting volumes for a couple soundtracks. We took the old ones down for now.
