What do you think?

O:O:O: This is perfect

cheese

This game is amazing lol

I felt a little bad for the rat king in the end, but he should have known not to mess with the cheese.

I really enjoyed this game. I loved the top down aspect that we don't see alot of these days, and the combat mechanics as well as enemies were really good.

Name Your Price

In The Name of Cheese

Version: 1.0.4about 2 years ago

Play as Eric, cheese shop owner and amateur swordsman through five levels of top-down melee action, making use of magical spells as you make your way through the Rat King's castle to reclaim what has been taken from you.

Eric enters his store late at night to find that his precious Wensleydale cheese has been taken! Left behind is a note from the Rat King himself taunting him. Now filled with rage, he takes up his trusty blade and sets out for the king's castle, ready to fight to the death to get his cheese back.

The plan? Sneak in through the sewers, and breach the castle undetected.

...or go in, killing everything in sight. It'll probably be more like that. In the end, the cheese justifies the methods.

Development is going fairly smoothly right now, but I don't really have anything I can show yet. I'm just coming out of a bit of a slump and I haven't worked on it in a while.

The door is finally open.

What awaits Eric in this final area?

And what of his cheese?

Small development update (Slowing down/semi-hiatus?)

Here's my contribution to #screenshotsaturday, showing off the wizard enemies in the library level! It also showcases the Shield spell. I could probably change the color of the hit numbers and fireballs to be more visible, though.

Getting close to the end. One more stage and a boss to go.

Progress has been pretty slow the past week (relatively speaking), so I probably won't have anything to post for this Saturday.

But what I have done is make a few balancing changes and start on the Library level. Still looking into getting an OST made.

While working on the game last night, I found out that the spells need to be rebalanced somewhat. Stun spell, I'm looking at you in particular.

Progress on the dungeon level, new heavily-armored soldier enemies, and the Bolt spell!

Each enemy is designed with the idea that you have multiple options for taking them on.

I want it to be entirely possible to defeat each one without magic, but using it will make things a lot easier. That's also partially why the mana pool is so limited.

Updated the description a little bit and added some new screenshots. I'm currently hard at work on the third level!
