What do you think?

Its been a while lol

Sorry for my long inactivity, but I was able to catch up on some progress you've done, including this game.

It was good, obviously a ton of bugs and things that aren't polished as you and some commenters already stated, and that is ok, since I know you have a much more ambitious game to work on.

My advice for your next big game would be to play with camera movements more and make it dynamic, and practice animation and visuals a bit more, maybe as personal test projects.

If you want to push beyond the Scratch vector look, I recommend using less of it's built in costume editor and instead draw and import your own sprites to the game, (and maybe vectorize it if you want) this way not only will you make a new art style not many scratch games has, you will also get used to other game engines that requires you to import image assets for 2D games, too.

Good luck to your future game, I believe it will be fantastic with your creativity! You have my full faith and confidence, and don't let anything discourage you from your goals and dreams!

bug: if you hold space to fast forward the intro text, the last image of the cutscene will persist

We are so back.

For Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and newer, ARM64 architecture). Not compatible with Intel-based Macs.

This is quite a personal game I made as a big message to my longest-lasting crossover franchise I made as a kid, and it is also a major installment to the Kevin & Friends - Video Game series. It was left in hiatus for about 3 years because I was quite busy on other things. This is inspired by Diary of a Wimpy Kid art style but the story in this series is original.

The first and second game is pretty much when I was new to programming while I was in high school, but for this game, it is the first to be this sophisticated after years of learning game dev, so I introduced new mechanics to make this a shooter + action + platformer.

This game has 6 stages total, or 7 if you include the final boss, and takes approximately an hour to finish.

And to the old K&F fans out there, you finally get to experience a BIG adventure here.

This will also technically be my last traditional project where I make free games with audio borrowed from elsewhere (I still don't know how to make music, but I will soon). I say technically because I'm finally going to start commercializing my works and I would also randomly have the guts to create another free game just for fun like this one. However, even after I have finished this game after over a year of development, I would still occasionally let out update patches if people report anything.

Yeah, and honestly, this is not the most fun game to make but I’m still quite proud of it. I may still roll out updates even after this if I or anyone has discovered any issues.

This game was also inspired by Alien Soldier for the SEGA Genesis. The Alpha Demo is also available to play so that you get to experience the game before the finale.

⚠️ Be warned though...

My game is 186 MB, which is well beyond a typical game built in this environment, so be sure you optimize your setup well before playing. You probably won't notice much if you have a high-end PC.

Also, using the keyboard could cause some lag for reasons outside of my control, which is the OS sending repeated inputs through the browser/app, but you also won't notice much if you constantly press a lot of keys. But playing with a controller reduces this lag, so you have that as an option.

🛡️ Difficulty Levels:

Difficulty choices are available here, unlike the previous K&F games. What do they mean?

  • Casual: The easiest difficulty, for casual gamers. Reduces the number of enemies on screen and quite slow attacks.

  • Standard: The default difficulty. For people who want some challenge but not too much.

  • Professional: The hardest, for gamers who can pick up patterns quickly or have some reflexes. There will be many enemies on screen and faster attacks, so don't select this if this is your first time player.

ℹ️ Important Info:

Now, this game has a tutorial in it after the cutscenes that teaches you how to play, so I don't need to explain it here. However, what do you need to know about the keyboard is that to pause, press P, and you can switch characters during gameplay. This is also because I completely removed the Scratch header toolbar because I finally implemented an in-game pause screen. Though, the pause screens will be intentionally disabled when you reached to a certain point of the level, and you have to play as a specific character, but you can still switch characters during bosses.

Additionally, this game does allow you to connect your controller and play the game with it. I recommend Xbox controllers since the extension I used is optimized for Xbox. Vibrations will work as well. And I will put in this diagram so that you can get the idea.

For the cursor actions, that is exclusive for the Windows 2000 simulator part at the beginning of the game. You don't need to use them for the rest of the game afterwards.

There is also one little trick. I engineered the levels to clone themselves in tiles but because of that, it's pretty buggy which means it can make you clip at the bottom or the top of the level, so be careful of that.

I couldn't figure out how to fix that, unfortunately. 😭

I also implemented a hovering feature where you press A while in midair, and you can use that to escape fall deaths by spamming the A key. You can also still shoot while floating.

🔏 Privacy

The game (including the desktop apps) does not collect any data/information whatsoever. All you get is just pure gameplay.

You will, however, be subjected to GameJolt's servers if you play through the browser or log in with your GameJolt account through the apps, but they're not really warranted to be afraid of.

That's pretty much it. I hope you enjoyed this game as I spent over a year making this game. It's not the most fun game to build, but I'm still quite proud of what I have done.

I appreciate your love and support if you are willing to give.

Full game progress: 100% complete. WOOOOOO!!!!

The full game is now live and available to play!

For both Windows and MacOS, and yes, the browser build is still there, too if you don't want to download anything.

This is probably the biggest game I have made yet.

Edit: Oh yeah, Happy Earth Day, too.

Finally, I was able to finish this. So, the full game is set to release on Earth Day.

Along with the browser build, I’ll also release Windows and MacOS desktop apps.

And here’s a quick trailer, too.

For all MacOS users, you might need to face Gatekeeper, and maybe possibly have to go through System Settings, to run the app.

This is because I don't have a Developer ID, which allows me to create a certificate to sign apps.

Alright, so the full game is just about to be finished, so I'll be reviewing it a few more times and fix anything I could find.

However, what I will want to tell everyone is that this game is now 183 MB in disc size.

Full game progress: 99% complete.
