Beginning of the End (of Classic Edition)

(And a sorta important poll.)

Hey, all.

So it looks like the majority vote from the last poll was in favor of waiting a bit longer. I appreciate the patience thus far and will hopefully be able to make it worthwhile!

You may have noticed the title and be wondering what that's about. Well, aside from any possible patches the game might need, it's now just about at a stable enough spot where I can consider the Classic Edition a complete package.

To answer some inevitable questions some may ask:

Q1: How much work is left on the current build?

A: A few Powerups and a few Showtime skills. Maybe also a little extra something to make up for lost time. ;)

Q2: How soon until the update releases?

A: Hard to say. Hoping to have something ready by the end of June, but it might take longer. Guess it depends on how chaotic life and/or the game development gets.

Q3: What will happen after Classic Edition is complete?

A: After a proper break, I'll start work on the full redesign of the game. This will include almost every single asset the game currently uses, with only a small amount of exceptions.

(Such as the chests.)

It will take awhile to get this done, so don't hold your breath on proper 1.2 release anytime soon.

Q4: Will the missing minigames be added in?

A: Eventually, but not with Classic Edition. Between the limitations of what resources I currently have on-hand and the eventual changes to the aspect ratio, it would be way too much work to try and attempt.

Q5: Do we really have to wait? I can't play your substitute.

I suppose if OCN really is too much to handle, even with the addition of Practice mode and trimming of difficulty, I technically could add in something else...

...though I'll just leave that up to majority vote to decide how petty this ends up being.

Anyways, I suppose that's all my tired self has to offer for now.

'Till next time.

While I chip away at the code for XL, I might as well show off the fruits of another thing I had tinkered with: modding custom music into Bionicle Heroes.

Pretty safe to say that Possy will be increasing the price of costumes to compensate for this recent development.

Suppose it was about time that some of these skills got a little extra kick.

It's been a long time coming...

This whole "making a new battle frame" situation does give me an excuse to add some things I had been putting off for far too long.

Still have to address a few tweaks to layering and test some other sidequests, but I think that we're back on track again.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Save file stuff (sidequests, maps and "autosaving") might currently be a troublesome mess, but at least development on OCN is going pretty smooth.

So, Plan B: The remainder of tonight will run V1 of a solo OCN mode, with an updated version coming tomorrow during the end of the con.

(And a further refined public release of this later on. If there's interest.)

Still deciding if it's worth committing to a full rebuild, but I at least figured out a better way to handle the party swapping mechanic.
