First steps. Movement & HP.

I’ve already created the basic mechanics: walking, camera rotation, crouching, running, etc.
There’s also a health system inspired by Resident Evil.
(You can see it in the video.)

I wanted to make the movement feel heavier, so the player can really feel the body weight. The camera rotation is also smooth.
The health system is based on a set of states, from good condition to bad or death. In my opinion, this fits my game better than a bar or numbers.
There’s also a stamina indicator — it only appears when needed, for convenience.

Next, I’ll be working on the main menu and the pause menu. For the player, I’ll also add a damage system for falling and other impacts.

Do you feel the Christmas already? Or you are still thinking about Halloween? Nevertheless the Thanksgiving is coming this week<3 Don't forget to add our game to Steam wishlist https://store.steampowered.com/.../Dr_Livingstone_I_Presume/

I’m continuing to build out the basics! (added an inventory, a few items, and a pause menu)

Any thoughts?

Первые шаги. Передвижение и ХП

Hey everyone!

I’m working solo with UE4 on a small atmospheric horror project (demo version).

Here are a few screenshots. I’m trying to balance darkness and visibility. Also working on making the comfortable HUD.

What do you think about it?

I added radioactive zones. They have a harmful effect on the player and are dangerous areas, but they contain pretty good loot.

I decided to implement the main menu directly inside the game using real in-game objects. Of course, it’s not something super “wow,” but in my opinion it pretty nice.

What do you think?

In my game “The Storm Approaches”, the enemies are “dosimetrists” — radioactive corpses that hide underground.
