We are wanting the next update bring our a lot more qulaity to the game that is very much needed. At the moment it is very obvious that the game is in alpha due to three main things.
Lack of monsters which we got done art wise. Mainly trying to balance out their stats and item drops. At the moment we got a couple more enemies to add in while removing the old enemies. The old enemies were placeholders.
The questionable combat flow which is improved a great deal in the next up date. Do note we are having animations done for the player for mid air attacks like bow, sword swinging, dagger stabs, and so forth to make mid air combat look better. At the moment we don't have animations for mid air.
And my personal annoyance lack of good UI art and UI experience for the players. Menu art could look better, information form UI could be improved a lot, and just a lot of small details that would give an overall boost.
The main good thing about this wait is it is giving us time to work on story, quests, and NPC ideas. We are also working on crafting recipes and item ideas. So the wait is giving us more time to think of the big overall picture. By the end of the month we should have the alpha out with some goodies.
Our goal is one major alpha a month. The first major alpha release aka the one we doing right now is slow, because we had to do artist searching. It took a long time to find hard working artist that can do the job good and proper. Now we found them it should go a bit quicker after the next update. We will have mini updates during the month too.
Mostly new rooms, new quests, more detail art, and a few other things. So here is to everything coming together this month.
Next up
While working on the first full Alpha build, I decided to start adding a little bit of NPC dialogue and other stuff to start making the game feel somewhat alive during the early alpha stages.
Here are some more NPC art. Next week we will have the character art for the town people started. One of these animations is just for small detail when entering the library randomly. Would be boring if every character only had one type of idle animation.
Alright guys time for some art updates. Here is a couple animations for our first couple NPC. https://gamejolt.com/games/immortalchronicles/445565
Just a little teaser of wip art for the upcoming library area. Going to have a new background made so the contrast looks better, but for now I am enjoying it. Do note will be uploading a gif within next couple days so you can see the animated objects.
Alright after a crap ton of time we found a UI artist that can do pretty good. This is early Work in progress. We will release the next update when we get two menus screens done instead of waiting for all the UI to be completed. Look forward to it.

Character Animation Showoff 1: Loki - Your castle friendly trickster.
Animations: Teleport leaving Idle 2 Freelance Artist in charge of Loki's concept art/animation - Max Creed.
Wanted to share some of the rooms I am working on for the first Alpha and show I have the start of a cutscene tool I made for allowing customizable mini events and cutscenes to be quickly created. #immortal_chronicles #metroidvania #devlog #pixelart
We got our new throne for the save rooms in the works. Hope you guys enjoy sitting on your new demonic throne every time you need to save. We are making animations for the character sitting on the throne soon. Hope you guys enjoy the upcoming update.
Started on the interior for the tavern. The tavern will be where you get quests and can gather information from NPC you made friends of. The tavern NPCs are just stock placeholder art for now and will be replaced later with more custom art.
Second update to the early WIP Menu UI. We might change the bottom right info box because the right side is starting to get a little cluttered. Hope you guys enjoy it so far. https://gamejolt.com/games/immortalchronicles/445565
