Who are Psynthetix?

Well, I figure that if I've got your attention, and I'm gonna keep working on my game, I've got to keep you all entertained until then. So, let's talk about Psynthetix for a brief bit.

Psynthetix is a little band formed by Myles Taylor and his best friend, Stride Jackson (second-left). Originally, they were called Stridin' Myles, and played in Myles' garage, with Myles on lead guitar, and Stride on bass. Myles and Stride were good friends at Aront High School. Cindy "Twilight" Wensleydale (second-right) jumped on board shortly after as keyboarder, and they did their hardest to get Hiro Tetsujin (far left) in the band, since he was the best drummer on campus. Jesse Black (far right) was brought on board when they needed a ride to travel around Trula, and a technician. He's proven himself a good backup guitarist later on. (Susan wasn't in the band yet, since her story doesn't begin yet.)

Eventually, they got a manager, named Tom. He's managed a lot of musical acts, including Stabbington and R-Tina. It was thanks to him that they got the name Psynthetix, and their first major gig, the Instruments of Power tour. It produced a hit single for them, Rock Da World Again.

...oh, and they performed a little for the controversial pop singer, R-Tina, on an album called Co-Ed Celebration.

Eventually, they got a second bass approved by Tom, named Scaramouche Faust. Most people call him Scarry. He has a nasty tendency to steal Stride's riffs, and he's much older than the rest of the band. He'll be disowned due to monster-summoning reasons that will be explained in the game.

Of course, after a certain incident, Susan would join the band, but we'll get to that story when the game comes out.

Okay, so I'm doing something either crafty or questionable: drawing the objects with Draw GUI.

It works, doesn't it?

On the plus side, the tile layer ISN'T overlapping, and Draw draws objects.

On the other hand, NOW the tile layer lags during camera movement.

I guess I'd better let everything else lag for consistency (somehow), or fix the lag.

Dang it. I got the math right.

The real trick now is to optimize it. It's easier to do since it's technically all 2D.

Here. Just to give you an idea as to what I'm going for.

The character and GFX are temporary, but they help me realize what I want to do with the engine.

The next update may be full of bugs.

...moths, mostly.

I hope you appreciate what I go through for pointless details like this.

I don't plan on going this crazy too much, though.

I was considering releasing the expansion today, but then I found a lot of bugs I should've spotted in the original build, and I made the minimap do extra stuff for said expansion.

Don't worry, it'll be out by tomorrow night.

A rather interesting thing I forgot about...

The floor's movement, being a view drawn onto a surface, is still one frame behind.

However, I figured it's more efficient to draw walls separately than to use blocks for indoor segments. They can stretch and keep doing the depth math accurately.

On one hand, I'm getting there. On another hand, "No, I'm not."

Then again, I probably forgot something important about layering the old-fashioned way, and something about using a view as a texture.
