Welcome To Despair

You find yourself standing in front of the castle you'd been searching for. Upon entering, a familiar apparition levitates before you. "So, we meet again, old friend," Thanatos, the spirt of death says, taunting you as he always does. "I know why you've come here. Yes, the Fountain of Youth IS inside. You want to be rid of me forever, is that it? Very well. Ordinarily I take mortals outright when they get this far, but since we have such a chumming history, I offer you this game. Within this castle are deadly traps and dangerous monsters, the likes of which you've never seen! Find the Fountain of Youth if you can, but should you perish along the way, you will take my place as the new spirit of Death." Journey forth, young adventurer. Brave the castles traps. Defeat the most dangerous montsers. Seek out the Fountain of Youth and be rid of your fears of death forever. Along the way you'll meet some Gods. Loki, Zeus, Chronos, Charon and many more. Will you destroy them and seize their power, or make them your allies and receive their blessings? Will you help or harm the denizens of the castle's town? Survive or perish? The choices are up to you, and you alone. #platformer #rpg #retro #action #metroidvania

I finally broke down and started working with tile map brushes in unity with editor coding.

I am hoping this will make level designing way faster than before allowing me to automate some things I been doing which have slowed down level design.

Here are some more NPC art. Next week we will have the character art for the town people started. One of these animations is just for small detail when entering the library randomly. Would be boring if every character only had one type of idle animation.

Wanted to apologize for no post or updates the last week. Work got a little busy and had to do some stuff with it. I will be doing more post starting again this weekend.

Alright guys time for some art updates. Here is a couple animations for our first couple NPC.

Alright after working on the map and so forth for the next update we have quickly come to a decision that we need a fast travel system. More in the article for this post.

We talked about other areas in patch notes, but haven't shown some of the art.
This is just a little thrown together demo of some of the clock tower art.
We don't want to share the actually rooms or we might spoil somethings.

This is probably a TL:DR for some, but here we go. Full question in the article so click expand.

This is less of a game update and more of a question for the community. I was wondering what do you guys think is important for first impressions of a game?

Second update to the early WIP Menu UI. We might change the bottom right info box because the right side is starting to get a little cluttered. Hope you guys enjoy it so far.

Alright after a crap ton of time we found a UI artist that can do pretty good. This is early Work in progress.

We will release the next update when we get two menus screens done instead of waiting for all the UI to be completed. Look forward to it.

Just a little teaser of wip art for the upcoming library area.
Going to have a new background made so the contrast looks better, but for now I am enjoying it.

Do note will be uploading a gif within next couple days so you can see the animated objects.
