Introducing Heavy Blade!

The first skill that players will unlock in Project Another World.

A medium physical attack that targets one foe, deals knockback and with luck (and a high Crit Chance) inflicts knock down!

Hello all!

It’s been a while since the last Game Jolt devlog. I’ve made a lot of progress on Project Another World.

I’ve now implemented most of the combat mechanics. I’m beginning the phase of adding actual skills that will be in the game rather than skills made for testing purposes.

I’ll be gradually posting videos of the new mechanics.

This video kicks things off with a first look at the knockback mechanic which moves enemies into a new grid position or bumps them into another unit before bouncing forward.

Heavy Blade only has a knockback of one, but the knockback distance can be as great as 5 grid positions!

This mechanic is handy at keeping enemies away from weak allies or moving them into a desirable position for an AOE skill.

I added a KNOCKDOWN mechanic to my turn-based RPG.

Now when you target a unit's weakness, (E.G using Light Magic on a Vampire) the unit is knocked down and spends their next turn getting back up!

Introducing the BEATDOWN Mechanic!

When an enemy unit knocks down a player, they get to act again!

Once all players are knocked down, the enemy will initiate a beatdown with their buddies!

Introducing CHAIN ATTACKS!

When a player knocks down an enemy, the chance to initiate a chain attack with an ally arises!

Chain attacks are swift low damage skills with high knockdown chance in order to keep the chain going!

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.
