Question to my fellow game developers:

Have you noticed any harm in setting the price of your games as "pay what you want" vs "free?"

More context in the article...

Note, following was private draft post for almost a year before now:

I just released a demo last week and set the price to "pay what you want" (you never know right?). But even though people were seeing, liking, and following it, nobody downloaded it. I set the price to "free" and now I got 3 downloads fairly quickly.

Do you think it's a coincidence or does seeing "pay what you want" actually turn people away? And yes, I know that it's unlikely that I'd get any money anyway.

The Blooming Darkness is getting closer and closer to a real demo! Check out the page for more details.

EDIT: There was supposed to be an update on the situation, but I forgot to hit publish :/

I made a game in 12 hours! Am I a real game developer now?

I'll continue to improve it, and hopefully release it here soon. Maybe I'll make it into a full mobile game in the future.

I pretty much just need to implement a more secure save system (it's just for the highscore, but still).

I might update it in the future (I have some ideas), but I want to get back to Blooming Darkness.

I recently restarted my metroidvania game, Blooming Darkness (old version demo is now playable), and I wanted to improve my pixel art skills for the new version. Would you say I've made good progress?

Dive into the cozy post-apocalyptic open world of Critter Cove!

Gentleman Rat Studios (@GR-Rob ) describe it as “a little bit Animal Crossing, a little bit Stardew Valley. Maybe even a little bit Windwaker, too."

Blooming Darkness is now public! No demo just yet, but I'll keep you updated. https://gamejolt.com/games/blooming_darkness/398415

Outside circumstances and technical difficulties said no to me releasing it anytime this week, so next week... and if not then I'm done trying to scheldule things.

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

Just as Pecaminosa's musicians #improvise this rendition of #LittleSunflower 🌻, so do we improvise with this post you're reading. 😂

What's coming out of your own improvs? 🤔
