When switching to HDRP, I was faced with the need to completely rework some of the effects that affect gameplay: weather effects (changes the character's battery charge rate), environment scanning effect (highlights POIs for a while), dynamically changed character's suit emission, etc. All this requires replacing the appropriate shaders, and studying the post-effects stack for HDRP (I worked in built-in RP before).
I met a stable Unity crash trying to upgrade my project to 2020 \ 2021 \ 2022 versions of Unity, so I am deprived of the opportunity to use the built-in functionality (weather, volumetrics clouds) of these versions and have to implement these features myself.
In addition, the game world is reworked into an "open" type and a seamless transition between locations. And this, in turn, is a change in all the basic data of the game, the logic of loading locations and saving the game state.
The locations also are in redesign - every will be more detailed, increase in size, filled with new mecahics and content.
I'm torning between making a visual side and remaking a new locations with gameplay. And there are only 24 hours in a day.(
