B-grade turn-based pre-apocalyptic hard-scifi RPG

In this hard-scifi CRPG set in the 2010s, the UFO hunters were right - somewhat - and it's just your luck to get caught between their crusade and the blowback.

  • Gameplay-focused small independent production. Snappy custom engine. Half-decent 3D-iso graphics. No voiceovers, no cutscenes, no gimmicks, no apologies.

  • Tough turn-based combat, B&E, espionage, impersonation, seduction, blackmail, hacking, trolling, and more.

  • Nonlinear fragmentary narrative. Real choices. Systemic consequences. Over 10 drastically different endings. No unkillable NPCs.

  • 10 quicksave slots, autosaves & manual saves for all your savescumming needs.

  • Platforms: Windows + Linux (64-bit)

    • ZIP download includes bothWindows & Linux executables and is simplest for modding. Windows EXE also runs great in WINE.

    • AppImage may be more convenient for newer Linux distros

Synthnostate v0.7.4 progress

Converted and cleaned up NPC/item data on day one. 100% smooth sailing, feels good man.

Dialogue UI ported (and converted from big-box-of-text to 'speech bubble' over the NPC's head)...

First demo uploaded! It's just a first glimpse of the new engine... I wanted to put this out before I switch script languages (wasn't happy with Lua, switching to JS.)

First demo dropping soon.. next week? It's feature complete, just needs cleanup.

Engine V2 is almost done. No art/style changes, just a rebuild in plain C with cleaner graphics+GUI systems, Lua scripting, and in-engine editing for smoother content editing & modding.

March 2021 big-picture update on Synthnostate: Crusaders of the Tinfoil Hat - basically the yearly “we’re not dead” post. I wanted this to be the WIP release announcement, but alas, I can only say we’re getting there.
