I been talking with other developers from small indie and hobby teams lately. While talking with them a couple things came to my mind. I feel game developers are forgetting to ask some important questions to the fans and community, so I want to ask the community myself a few of these questions. Do note these questions are being asked because I plan to write a post on the GameJolt's feature request page. This request involves helping people find new games they would enjoy easier and make the experience more enjoyable.
First one what draws your attention to a game?
I know some people first see a game's thumbnail and choose based on how cool or weird it looks. Personally I also look at some games because based on the name of the game and the thumbnail. When you first see a game do your read it's description and get drawn into not what it's current state is in early development, but what it could turn into. I am curious about this one a lot, because some developers sometimes don't get a lot of traction early on and I am curious if there is a way to help people get noticed more. This is mainly to help new developers out. Having a positive first reaction to your project can help motivate you to work on the game and I think that is important to the developers.
Second question is what makes you want to follow a game.
Is it the description, testing out an early demo to enjoy it's gameplay, maybe some of the images showing on the game page site showing piece of the game, the description, or something else. I think if game devs knew what makes the community happy they could make the experience for new players much more enjoyable. This is really important to me, because the goal of my development right now is to reach a state for my project to be fun for people. Currently it is super early in the works, but wanted to share it so i could start getting feedback early. I think this last piece should be considered important because games are supposed to be fun and enjoyable for the player base.
Third question is a rough one. What turns you off from trying a game or looking into it? Basically anything that makes you say nope not even going to give this game a second of my time.
For me it is hard to turn me off from reading anything or trying anything. I think looking at people stuff that isn't near good looking is important. When people are first learning. yeah their game may not look the best so what. The new developers will get better through practice in my opinion. So, I kind of enjoy some of the lower tier games, because I can look at them and watch the developer grow too see how well they become at game making.
Which is what I think it important.
Saying this I know people have turn off on their viewing and playing choice. I am curious to hear from the community what turns you guys off from a game. Is it the game engine, how they describe their game, or anything else.
I think someone needs to ask these questions so we as game developers can understand our player base more. I feel today some developers are way out of touch with their community. So let me have it guys. Tell me what you think.
Thank you to everyone who took their time reading this and if you are a game developer say so in your response so I can check out your game too.

We talked about other areas in patch notes, but haven't shown some of the art. This is just a little thrown together demo of some of the clock tower art. We don't want to share the actually rooms or we might spoil somethings. https://gamejolt.com/games/immortalchronicles/445565
Started making a mini diagram to show each region and the connections between them. This way people will have a semi direction hint before the map system update comes out. There are more regions not shown. Note this doesn't include the fast travel system.
Alright guys time for some art updates. Here is a couple animations for our first couple NPC. https://gamejolt.com/games/immortalchronicles/445565
Game Jolt Colors is back!
Draw your OC (or favorite character) in the Game Jolt color palette and post them in the Art realm with the tag #GameJoltColors25.
At the end of the event, we'll pick a winner & add their design to the GJ Colors sticker pack!
Got some of our favorite grim reaper's animations in with the first set of conversations with him. Will be in the next game build. Video showing off his little idle animation.

Character Animation Showoff 1: Loki - Your castle friendly trickster.
Animations: Teleport leaving Idle 2 Freelance Artist in charge of Loki's concept art/animation - Max Creed.
Mini Dev Blog 6 - Ambience VFX/SFX and Settings Menu Update. I started to add some VFX and some ambience SFX for parts of the game. The main thing left before finishing alpha one is the settings menu for controls, graphics, and audio.

Here are some more NPC art. Next week we will have the character art for the town people started. One of these animations is just for small detail when entering the library randomly. Would be boring if every character only had one type of idle animation.
