Short description:
Add support for ads in web games. This would benefit all three parts of GameJolt: developers, players, and the site itself.
Long description:
Add an exclusive API for web games that allows different types of ads to be displayed:
Rewarded ads: Those that will be displayed when the player wants an extra life, skins, boosters, coins, etc.
Punishment ads: Those that will be displayed when the player loses a certain number of games.
Etc.
The API could connect to a new Wallet, which would be connected to the 'Developer marketplace setup' section. The amount could be configured to be deposited into the developer's personal account, just as it is now, but with an easier interface to see the amount earned from the ads.
Benefits for all:
The benefits would be numerous, both for GameJolt and its users, as GameJolt could diversify and adapt to more people. There are sites like CrazyGames or Poki with extreme requirements just for a game to be accepted. GameJolt could be more flexible with this and attract both new developers and people who like to play those games.
GameJolt would also compete more directly with sites like Itch, since it would benefit both developers and players.
It would also encourage more companies to compete for a single ad space on the games website and would also attract more clothing and gaming companies to pay the site just for appearing.
Ads could be 5 to 15 seconds long to make it more convenient, and the ads, like the charged stickers, would have a certain real value proposed by the platform itself.
There may be difficulties I'm not aware of, or there may be certain restrictions, such as creating an account on X site, but if the idea is implemented, it will be a great benefit for everyone.
The API would have to be simple, it already has a system of stickers and ads, it would only have to combine that in an API so that when showing an ad according to the needs of the dev, either a rewarded ad (skins, extra lives, etc.) or a punishment ad (ads that would come out every 5 or more lost games)
