On tap for today, we have another in-story CG from the up-and-playable #demo (wink wink) complete with an article full of rambling on the game's development!

Said rambling is in the article, but hopefully you consider enjoying the demo anyway!

I always say slow motion is better than no motion...

Thankfully all of the assets needed for the VN's story mode are included without breaking the 1GB size limit. On account of the game's current size having a greater distance from that limit than expected, I am taking my original initiative to include "secret bonus material" that gets unlocked when you do certain things as you play - what they are, I will not say (cos it's a surprise).

I have also discovered that converting a Ren'Py game to a web build adds to the game's size (the demo went from 405 MB as a native folder on my computer to 445 MB for the browser) so I gotta give myself a pretty sizeable inner margin for how much material I can add. Between the extra goodies and the music, we'll just have to see what can fit! Speaking of music....

...it's slow but sure as I try to craft the right sound I want for the game's different story beats. I'm currently battling the "retroactive goldilocks problem" - you seemingly get something "just right", only to hear it as a finished product and be like "too hot, too cold, not it". It's certainly not doing my subscription any favors, but I can't give up so I will continue trying to cook!

Okay, so the first 24 hours seem good....of course, the ten percent rule reared its ugly head, but the game did a little bit better than I hoped! The game has 50 followers!🙌🏼

Steady rolling along with Chapter 11! It’s been a COOL minute, but I’m glad I devved the game before I did any more chapters cos now I’m more used to drawing everybody! (Backgrounds are still the bane of my existence though)

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

So for today, I am going to talk about the two tropes that provide a "standard" for the stories I tell:

"Star-crossed lovers" and "interspecies romance". Cliche as they are, you will always find them in my work no matter the setting!
