So, after some deliberation (with myself) I've decided that I will start enforcing Rule # 3.

Why am I doing this?

I, like many others, love seeing all the 3d games you're working on, but I never wanted this community to just be a mirror of the [awesome] Game Dev community.

The image at the top is a sample from the last day or so - notice a trend? If all of these posts are applicable to this community AND that one, then what is there that sets them apart?

What is the rule?

So, going forward, I will be enforcing Rule # 3 of this community. If you aren't familiar with it, it is as follows:

3) Do not make posts specifically to promote your game. It's fine to link your game but you should also talk about the 3d aspect, not just self-promotional spamming.

What does this mean for posting 3d art from your game project?

Unfortunately, this part isn't so cut-and-dry. Yes, you can post art from your game project. However, the post should say something about the ART itself. The process, challenges you faced, technical aspects, what inspired you to make the art for game, etc..

What you should avoid is making a post that just promotes your game with a link, talks about gameplay mechanics unrelated to the art, general dev logs unrelated to 3d art, and then simply slapping a screenshot on it. This is what would be considered self-promotional spamming per Rule # 3.

Thanks for your support!

I appreciate your understanding with this new direction going forward. You've all made this an awesome and fun community to participate in! I'm not doing this because I don't like certain posts or certain users, I just want this community to stand out from the crowd to highlight all of your great 3d Art!

If you have any questions, comments or concerns then let know me in the comments, my shouts, or at [email protected].

Redesigned the targeting for the vertical missile to incorporate a UI element. It's basically the holy water from VS.

I'm thinking that I need to change the art style for this project to something which I can produce and iterate on faster. Which of these two styles for the mech do you like more? Modeled/Rendered in Blender.

You can use this art as wallpaper for you PC :3

Finished the first 3D art pass, finally. I wasn't really happy with the outline at this point, so I've shelved that for now. The lasers at the end are my favorite part right now

Getting pretty close to the style and rendering features that I want in Unity for this project.
