Timing 2026!

I thought that an art of Tomias would be fitting as the first post of 2026... so here it is!
I am indeed quite late to this new year, but it was because I was thinking in what to post.

Check the article to read my lame new yapps resolution

2025 was a crazy year... I was in highschool, made an unfinished animated pilot for it as my final project, turned 18 and had to fill papers and stuff, got just about 2 months of summer vacation where I did absolutelly nothing, moved out to my grandma's basement and then got in university just few days later, all in one year (i've never been this active! woahhh!)

I'm still processing the fact that I passed the exams and got in uni LOL

What's my resolution for 2026?

For 2026 I plan on getting better at art! I've been mostly self taught my whole life and didn't really got any advice or tutorials online, so I feel like I'm missing out in some important resources. (I only had 2 art teachers that actually taught us new stuff in my school run... thankfully we got complete professionals at my uni).

This year I want to start taking commissions too! I've already been preparing them last year, but didn't got the courage to fully announce it and open them... But this year it will be it! (I have no idea how they work and I'm totally getting scammed, but there's a first time for everything)

I'm also planning to start creating more animations! Last year I made the pilot for highschool but it's unfinished (and lowkey kinda sucks even tho I scored the max grading), and then just some small animated loops in the end. This year I'll try to remake the Time Tomias pilot or at least some animation tests.

I also have the goal of finishing the Demo of Koppy Kopsocks, and then proceed to developing the full game (it will be paid, but the demo will always be free). Maybe I could also create more playable demos of my other projects to start creating some volume in my library.

And most importantly... SURVIVE UNIVERSITY!!!!

Also totally gotta fix my sleep schedule, it's 3AM as I'm posting this...

Well, that's it! Happy late new year!

Watch that highschool animated pilot here!

#Devruary I learnt some of it as I made small games on Scratch over the years until I left it for other engines.

And I'd watch devlogs and tips for devs on Youtube once in a while where I learnt some new stuff about gamedev (although I'm still a newbie).

#Devruary KoGaMa! I always spent my time in there making my own maps and my avatars (skins) to then play on other user created maps, this idea of creating stuff that then you and others can play on it stuck with me and that's how I wanted to make games.

#Devruary Double tap to sprint.

It's very simple, but on the engine I'm using I took a month just to get it to work at all (then I got burned out), now I'm trying to make it work right and it's probably the most puzzling thing I've coded so far

Got a little too into the back-and-forth with #PCMan

Focused on rhythm, speed, pushing it harder and faster… chasing that perfect finish I might’ve pulled a bit too aggressively at the climax…

#Devruary having to deal with bugs while having no idea how to fix them (then you get stuck and leave the project for 2 months until you randomly unlock the solution for it and come back)

I rewrote a script many times now and the bug keeps getting worse

#Devruary I always had this habit of backing up the project files, game assets and even concept art on my drive.

It's very useful for archiving stuff and if you need to recover something (or if you simply want to look back at your old stuff).

DRAGÃO!

Starting to get used to colour values, I tried applying them especially for the fog effect to give a sense of distance.
