The game takes something from all of its inspirations.
From Hades, it takes the central gameplay loop: go into a room, kill everything, move into the next room.
From Castlevania Symphony of the Night, it takes the core progression: explore a big map and complete a sequence of particular events in order to unlock the final boss.
From Blasphemous, it takes the monsters designs, as well as the idea that the monsters are people, changed by some dark unknown powers for their sins.
From Slavic mythology, it takes the folklore, the setting and the monsters' names and general habits.
The game will be mostly linear, though it'll involve backtracking. Just like in Metroidvania games, doing something in one area unlocks something in another.
Planned game features include: dynamic combat, dialogue system and multiple secondaries.
I'm not sure whether or not I'll have time to do this, but the player should be able to exchange Oka's shield for a few secondaries at camp rest, which are specific "safe points" located sparingly across the map where you restore your health.
For now, I have an axe and a hot iron pot in the plans.
Thank you for reading to the end. So what do you think? Does this sound exciting or not? Would you play a game like this? Leave your opinion in the poll! Thank you and good night!
