I'm gonna try to draw a backdrop image for the main scene. I have an idea in my mind for how I want it to look so I'm just gonna follow that and go from there.

Guess who's home from work! I want to explain in more detail the challenge the backdrop idea posed, how I initially had solved it and how I'm solving it NOW.

Just got back from work! Wanna make this quick. I ended up applying polymorphism, again. I turned the backdrop script I had into an abstract class and made UI and sprite-based adaptations of that. I'll explain in more detail after work tomorrow!

I'm going to set myself a goal to release the first beta/demo of Hensen Hopper by the end of this year. I'm going to try to use static backdrop images rather than tiles for the backgrounds in this game, which presents a bit of a challenge in one aspect...

Been working on the visuals for the settings menu! I had the idea at the last minute to have the volume slider knobs each be different colored flowers which I think looks really cool. I left some space below them for extra options I may add in later.

I have created a functional settings menu! I definitely want to spend some more time on the artwork for it but for now I'm satisfied. Everything seems to be working as it should.

I think I'm going to add the option to disable screen-shake to Hensen as an accessibility feature because it can be sensory hell for me if I'm feeling a certain way when I play a game so I imagine there are other people who have similar issues with it.

I'm off to bed really soon here so I'll make this update quick. I had a good day today! Work went well, got home and made a few internal changes to Hensen Hopper's code in preparation to add the settings menu which I plan to get started at tomorrow!

For a pixel art I drew in 10 minutes, this sprite turned out looking alright! This is the health item that occasionally drops from enemies in Hensen Hopper, if you collect it, it restores 1/5 of your HP.

The menus are looking pretty nice! I want to add some plants to the backdrop because this game is meant to be set in a garden and I also want to add a drop shadow to the buttons which I'll probably do tonight before go to bed, that shouldn't take long.
