I think it'd be funny to have the enemies just, like, poof away when you defeat them haha. I think that's what I'ma do for the defeat animation.

There really isn't a whole lot else I need to do to prep Hensen for the beta build out! Honestly, I'm just making this post to think through what I still need to get done with this project in order to push the first beta before the end of the year.

I have two things to show off!!! Firstly, the hints system is now (in enough of a sense for the beta build-out at least) functional, and, secondly, I tweaked the honey-bullet sounds a bit to try to make attacking the enemies more satisfying.

I'm thinking of having the HP system in Hensen Hopper be Hensen's morale rather than health. I think that'd make more sense with the healing item being what it is; Hensen gets stung, he looses morale, but eating his favorite food restores it.

Is a fully-interactive tutorial necessary for the beta build-out or are the in-game hints enough for this stage in the games development? I plan to implement a fully interactive tutorial eventually but that may not be very important for now...

I added an animation and sound effect when the player collects the heal-up drop. In the lore, this flower is going to be Hensen's favorite food which is why the sound effect is a crunch like he's bitten into something.

The new heal-up drop in Hensen Hopper. May not be a cameo of something in one of my earlier games like I may or may not have directly stated I was going to make it in a post I made the other day.

Just some Hyperslice gameplay, hope you'll enjoy 😎

This is from the playable demo of Bionic Slammer, available on Windows and Webgl, a 2d-hd platformer/metroidvania in development since 2 years.

What should the in-universe item for the player's score be? I want there to be lore where Hensen collects something from every Yellow Jacket criminal he defeats and your score is how many he's gotten. I have some ideas but I'm open to suggestions as well!
