There are many bad game dev habits. However bad habit I quit is trend chasing. I prefer to make games in genre and style I really love and capable of.

There are many but one that deserves more attention is Iron Meat. It's a fun run 'n' gun inspired by Contra series.

What dev habit helps me the most is listening to music while I work. Sometimes a little distraction helps the mind at ease when facing touch roadblocks. As an artist, music at times helps me bring out creativity and ideas of what a game is.

1I have plenty of good dev habits from quick decisive to not giving up. But the one that helps the most would be regular exercise and have enough rest.
I don't lose my mood in game dev simply because I love video games. If I did lose my mood, I took some breaks, get some rest and play some video games.
First I learned BASIC, then I learned level and map making with level and map maker tools. Next, I learned modding a game without and with script.
Last I learned to create my own game with those knowledge.
